This morning we heard that poor Lucian and his parents were sick and would not be meeting us at the SF Moma, so we decided to skip it and not try and over extend ourselves, we already had plans to meet Aleutia and Mellissa and Cole in the part for a picnic with 2 other couples. This was at 1:00, since it was like a pot luck Joel decided to spend the morning making an apple tart with some apples from our veggie box, it turned out amazing, thought he wouldn’t say that, he wasn’t happy with it, but I thought it looked good and it certainly tasted great.
This did end up delaying us though and it was like 2:00 before we got to the park. One of the families were just heading out they had a baby named Julia. The other couple Michele and Carlos had a 9 month old name Joaquin. He was very adorable and had a great smile, Michelle and Carlos were newlyweds still so it was interesting watching them go through the new parent thing while still trying to figure out how to negotiate their marriage, Joel and I have been together 15 years, married 10 (This Monday 11/17 is our anniversary) so we have the communication and conflict resolution thing down, as well as Aleutia and her partner have been together for ten years, but we were telling them stories how a new baby brings out the “best” in everyone and of course we disagree on how to do things all the time and it can be a challenge to compromise. They were a great couple and doing such a good job with Joaquin, and Carlos the dad seems very loving and really into being a participant with his baby, which you often see dads being too busy. He was telling us how good of an eater he is, and how one day he fed him 4 whole jars of baby food, I was amazed, Holly takes 2-3 days to finish one, but we are getting better at it.
We ate some lunch and the babies all played with each other. Holly liked reaching out and holding their hands and touching their faces, and they were quite intrigued with her as swell, and they negotiated playing with some of the same toys and pulling them back and forth between each other. Then we went down to the playground area where there were swings. Holly had never tried these before, but Cole was a pro at it and showed her how it was done. She had an amazing time. First she swung leaning forward and she would laugh each time she came towards us and she just giggles and loved flowing through the air, then I leaned her back and pushed her some more, and when she swung the wind would blow up a flip of hair and it was the cutest thing ever. She held onto the swing and would laugh each time I pushed her more or if she came close to the camera, as of course Joel was taking a video first swing ride.
I had recently discovered that they have these swings at our park, so now I will be motivated to get out of t walk to take her there. After swinging she took a walk around the park with Joaquin and his parents and then when they got be we got ready to go we had been there just under three hours and she had missed her afternoon nap. When we got to the car Joel made her a bottle but she was fast asleep before he could finish it, and she slept for about 2 hours. She woke up rather cranky though, but we worked through it and played the rest of the night.

Wow, 10 years! Happy Anniversary! At the end of Quinn's baby-food-eating phase, during a growth spurt, he could eat 5 jars of baby food in one sitting! I think that's partly because he started "real" food so late and baby food has a high water content. When we went on a vacation together for a week where we'd have no access to baby food or pureeing equipment, we had to bring 140 jars!!! (Enough for 15-20 per day, in case he was really hungry.)
