Halloween

Happy Halloween… Today was a really fun day. We played in the morning and took a quick nap, then at 12:45 we went over to a BBQ at Joel’s work. It was a lot of fun. Many of his co-workers had dressed up including his boss, so it was neat to see all of the costumes. There was another baby there, it was the son of one of the painter’s, and he is 9 months old. He was dressed up like a big spider, and was very cute.

We had BBQ Ribs and Chicken, and they had Potato Salad and Coleslaw and rolls. They also had a pretty yummy lemony cake. We hung out for a while, Holly was dressed up as a lion, and everyone really liked her costume, she was quite adorable. Even though it was pretty cool, holly was sweaty in her Lion Costume, so we took off her main for a bit about halfway through lunch.

Afterwards I headed over to Bay Street and we walked around the bookstore for a while, and then got a shake from Cold stone, which was yummy. Holy liked being outside and walking around. We sat for a while in the courtyard watching the fountain, and walked around. After a bit I decided to drive over to my old work and visit Monique. We were doing an office trick or treat at 4:00 so I wanted to stop by beforehand and visit with her. We had a fun chat. Then we went over to meant the other trick or treaters, and we had so much fun, there was one other little baby who was almost 1 year old and he was dressed as a little bear, there was a 16 month old Isaac dressed up like a pirate, and a 18 month old Zoë dressed like Wonder Woman, she was my favorite, she was a little toddler, and so cute in her outfit.

There were some older kids, 3-4 dressed up as batman and ninja’s and princess and fairy and Dorothy. Latorri’s little guy is about 20 months old and he was dressed as a race car driver, and then there were some older kids maybe 6-7 dressed up in various costumes and a few 10ish year olds. We went to all of the various buildings and offices and I saw a bunch of my old co-workers so it was really nice to go back and visit, we got a ton of candy, and Holly loved seeing all the other kids in costume.

I was dressed in a red skirt and black top with little devil horns. We had a fun time. After walking around for a while trick or treating, Holly got very sleepy and took a little nap. Then we went back over to the main building where the party was. There was a very cool haunted house which Holly really liked. It was a converted classroom, and set up like a maze that you wind through, and there were hanging spiders and cauldrons and fog and skeletons and ghosts, and Holly liked looking at everything and was especially intrigues with the glowing flames and the fog.

In the atrium where all of the kids were playing was a jumping house. We were sitting on some cousins nearby and got to watch all of the kids running in and out. Zoë was very intrigued ad toddled up the ramp and stood at the doorway for several minutes, it would have been difficult for her to get in herself, as she would have to climb over it, or do a face plant on the other side, so she hung out there for a long time watching. Her parents weren’t sure if they wanted her to go in either, I can’t blame them, as there were older kids going wild, playing chase, and jumping everywhere. Isaac ran right up the ramp and dove in it was crazy, but he has an older brother, so he seemed like he was used to the rough housing and had a blast.

Zoë’s parents finally decided to let her in and she was so happy to get to jump around, but she stayed near the sides where she was out of the action and could help keep her balance. It amazes me how proficient at toddling they were at just 16 and 18 months. My sister will just be coming home from the peace corps when Holly is that age, and it is amazing, I can’t imagine her being so independent and just running and climbing and jumping around, 9 month months is not that far off, and I am already think about how time goes by too fast.

Holly didn’t want to miss out on the action either, so I took her over to the ramp and sat her down and we bounced on the side. She had such a great time she was squealing with excitement. By this time I had taken off her mane and the top half of her costume to let her cool off, since we were inside, and she had been wearing her lion outfit while we were trick or treating. All the kids loved her and would stop to say hi, pet her or greet her on their way in and out of the jumping house. Then suddenly Isaac came running across the room, hit the ramp, and crawled up it right to Holly and planted a big kiss on her cheek. They both just giggled and then before I knew it he climbed up and over and disappeared back into the fun house.

Holly is such a little flirt, and has now had her second kiss, I guess she is just irresistible. We played for a while longer, we won a dodecahedron necklace, it was made of this rubbery substance and flashed multi colored lights, Holly was amazed with it and played with it all afternoon. We also had a lot of fun in the bubbles.

I totally think they got this idea from when I brought the snow machine for Christmas, but in the same place as the snow had been at the last Christmas party, there was a bubble machine and the bubbles filled the atrium, we danced and played in them as if it were rain and holly would reach out and try and grab the bubbles, some would land on her nose or cheek and then she would laugh and they would pop. She had a lot of fun with them, and I will have to see about getting something like this for her birthday party.

By this time it was 6:30 so we left to pick up daddy from work and go home to give out Candy. Daddy ended up walking home at 6:30 and got there the same time we did. We left Holly in her costume for about an hour, since it was cool again and threatening to rain outside, so she wasn’t too warm and she answered the door with us and gave out candy to all of the neighborhood kids. The trick or treaters died down around 9:30 and then we had some dinner. All in all it was a very fun day.

Wow they really did the place up nicely, it's nice to know you had such a good Halloween. I wish I had been there so we could go off to Castro for the evening though, every Halloween I wish I was there.
I love Hollys costume it's brilliant, I will have to get the pics of Sam in his Vampire costume from Katie to show you.
A few questions arise:
What does Joel do now? Where does he work now that he can just walk home?
What happened to your sexy little black Celica?
