Random Thoughts Tuesday
The poor baby has a horrible diaper rash that I think turned into a yeast infection, but I got Destin today and it seems better, but is still slightly raised. We were using Boudreaux but everyone told me it wasn't as good as Destin.. Destin is 40% zinc oxide versus 16% in Boudreaux.
I miss my mom, she went back to Florida already and her trip was too short. I was stressed all last week planning and preparing for the party, so I was cranky, now that I am more relaxed and its all over, she had to go.
At studio grow Holly was dumping blocks out of a bin and I didn't respond, and she kept gleefully throwing them out. Then she put on back in by accident and I clapped and applauded her. She was so excited, that she put several more back in the bin, to get my cheery response.
Grandparents are great, but I think Grand babies wear them out... They aren't used to hours and hours of doing what Baby wants and following them around.. but that's why they were parents 30 years ago, and grandparents now.
Holly likes all the extra attention but I think by the end of the day she is worn out and just misses momma.
Holly has been waking up in the middle of the night, one night it took 2 hours to get her back to sleep, after her bottle she laid in bed with me, and just stared at the ceiling, for 90 minutes, I rubbed her back and head and leg and face, if I stopped she got upset, but as long as I gently rubbed her she laid quietly.
She is either getting her molars, unhappy about her diaper rash, going through a growth spurt, processing from her over whelming days, or all of the above.
Mom and dad get to go to the movies tonight, this is very exciting.
Mom feels like she is very behind on posting, and never got around to writing about our great Wine and Cheese Play date, or Chloe's last week.
Therapy was a wash today because Holly was so tired, she didn't get up at 8:00, so she wouldn't go down for her nap, then by the time therapy was over she was over tired and wouldn't sleep. She finally fell asleep at 4:50.. after being up since 9:00 AM, and in the first 45 minutes of her nap, she woke 3 times crying and needed to be soother back to sleep. At 2:00 she fell asleep for 10minutes then woke up screaming with night terrors during the day, but Mom woke her up and let her watch baby Einstein till she was calm, then tried the swing, but even after 45 minutes she still wasn't asleep, and then got grumpy and wanted to play some more.
Holly is a baby on the verge.... words and steps are days away, I can feel it. She so wants to talk and walk, she just isn't quite there yet, but she is working at it.

Studio Grow
On the play table she was stacking nesting Cups and playing with Dino's.
Every baby Loves a bin and a roll of Cardboard... Infinate possabilities
And then there was the Music Room. She loved the bells.
We ran into Kareem and his mom. He and Holly had a lovely time. They found a bin of ABC Blocks and pulled themselves up and proceeded to throw each one out of the bin, at the same time. it is so cute how alike they are.
My mom wasn;t used to being in the Baby play rooms, and kept wanting to clean up after Holly or stop her from throwing toys, blocks, balls, and magntic disks.. But you know, it is the staff's job to clean up after her, and she is at that stage where she wants to learn about gravity. Its just what kids her age do. Eventually my mom took a breath, relaxed and enjoyed watching her explore.

Score!
We laid down for her nap around 2:45 and she slept until 4:30. Mom and Dad worked out a deal this weekend. It is one of those Mini game Programming Contests, so Mommy gets to go to the movies and then she watches Holly an equivalent amount of time to let Daddy work on his game. So tomorrow I owe Daddy 4.5 hours of Programming time, and today just after Holly woke from her nap Mommy went to the movies.
So here is the Update from Daddy:
3. She ate an entire container of Bananas, even texting mommy with the good news. She ate it by the way with no tricks, she opened wide.
4. Holly learned about Gravity and thought it was Hilarious. Check out the Video Here: http://hollyzzdavis.blogspot.com/2009/02/hilarious.html
5. She likes snacking on Puffs
6. She had lots of fun bouncing.
7. She is a tornado that leaves a path of destruction where ever she goes.
9. Oh this one is great! She is learning in. She likes to take the Ball from the pit and puts it into her shape sorter box. This was pretty good news from me, as I haven’t had much luck with “in” at all, though she certainly has mastered out.
Which reminds me. A few times she was able to put the Donuts “On” once on the correct stand, but it was easier to pit the large donut on the skinny stand from the block stacker, which was still great, so she is beginning to learn “In” and “On”
This reminds me that yesterday Holly learned about the Pause Button. She is into Cause and Effect lately, for example she knows that when she hits the big button on the phone it makes a dial tone – or hangs up on Oma – and yesterday she learned that when she hits the one yellow button in a sea of black ones on the Tivo remote Yo Gabba Gabba pauses. She had a lovely game of pausing and starting it over and over, making sure she knew just how it worked. This was confirmed later that night when she decided to pause the TV when Mommy and Daddy were watching 30 Rock during dinner. She was quite please with herself and to get our attention, especially when her efforts to get the food off our plate were not successful. Hey – I gave her a bite and she didn’t like it, but that didn’t stop her from coming back for more.
Today we took Holly into the back yard. The ground was still sort of wet from the rain the last few days, so we put shoes on her which she kept knocking off and let her run around in her walker. http://hollyzzdavis.blogspot.com/2009/02/spaceship.html
We walked her around the yard and she specifically liked the Bambo, it tickled her head and she just giggled and scrunched her eyes in anticipation.
Next was, “The Uninvited” So this was actually not my top choice of movies to see. I love Horror movies and there are a few out at the moment, but this one was at the lower end of my list. It happened to be playing at the right theatre and time so that I could see a double feature. I ended up loving this movie. There was a wonderful and unexpected twist at the end that was a delightful surprise, and rather than a horror it was much more a mystery thriller. But it totally reminded me of the Script I wrote, and gave me a lot of ideas on how to tighten it up and change a few things to bring it up a notch, so who knows maybe I will work on a revision sometime soon.
