Top Flight

We recently went on another play date to Top Flight, a Gymnastics Studio in Fremont Area. We went a while back, before Holly was walking, and I was looking forward to seeing how things would be different this time.
An ever popular activity there is jumping into the foam pit and playing with the foam blocks, they are fun to toss, chew, stack and crawl around in.
This is a great therapy activity, it gets her to use all her muscles and activates her sensory systems. This can sometimes be a little overwhelming when she has had enough she lets me know and I help her climb out.

There were about 20 kids on our play date, this is Benny and his little sister Mady and Teresa their mom. We hang out with them a bunch. Benny is about 6 months older then Holly and Mady is just 6 months old now.
When she was done, she was off and exploring. She loves these orange cones, they are good for hats, and stacking and moving from place to place. The other kids were using them to make an obstacle course, but Holly was still too young for that. They were happy to share though.
Next we climbed into the giant bouncy house. We were the first to use it, so it was still pretty taught. Holly didn't mind the bouncing here and had fun crawling around and even tried to walk inside, but she fell over. She still doesn't understand the concept of jumping or bouncing, but she still had fun.
Then she climbed up to the big bouncy slide, and Mommy had to coax her to hold on before going down head first, in order to give Mommy a minute to climb up there with her so we could slide down together.
Then she was off and running some more, crawling through the tube, playing with the big mats, and making friends wherever she went.
She wanted to crawl or climb back up the bouncy slide, but she was simply too little for that, and well, we were bell weathers, and once we went down, all the other kids followed.
So she decided it was time to take another trip back to the foam pit. She jumped right in this time which was pretty cool.
But then she was ready to come back out again, there were so many new things too try out, she didn't want to spend too much time on any one activity.
Mommy tried to convince her to play on this little trampoline, just like the one Sally brought over, but she didn't like it. She was ok in the bouncy house, but the trampoline was a little to scary and unstable for her, especially being up there by herself, I think that makes a big difference.
So instead Mommy picked her up and went over the the big Mommy sized trampoline. First mommy jumped up and down holding Holly a few times. She seemed to like this a lot, she liked when Mommy jumped.
So then we sat down and Mommy bounced sitting on her butt across from Holly and this would bounce her a little, before we knew it, she was a pro, lounging like she had been doing this forever.
We bounced like this for a little while to get her used to it, it is great therapy for her to be crawling and walking and moving on a surface like this, and of course activating her vestibular system and bouncing.
Before I knew it, she was walking across the trampoline like a pro, but she had motivation, she might walk across hot coals, if there was Cheerios on the other side :-)

I love the Cheerio bribes, so cool! We all wish that Sam had some of Hollys caution! He is such a bugger, no concept of caution or safety. He has a trampoline that has a little handle and if it weren't for him holding on so tight he would fly away! He is a total daredevil. His most recent things are jumping out of his cot and flinging himself into the swimming pool! He flings himself into danger all the time and is a real handful! Can't take our eyes off him for a second!

I love the look of this place, it has been very thoughtfully planned out, I love the foamy blocks, I look at them and feel exhausted! I remember those ball pits from my childhood and feeling so tired after being in them for a while. What a good way of working out all of your muscles. I could do with a week in one of those pits, lol.
