Stopping in @ Habitot

I feel so lucky to be able to stop in at Habitot any time we like for Free.. As a Consumer of Through the Looking Glass (Holly's OT/IDS provider) we get free access to this wonderful play area. Recently Joel was having a Writing Retreat Saturday, starting with a Flash Fiction Class in the Morning, and Round 2 of a Short Script Contest due by 9:00 PM That Evening. To help keep Daddy focused, Holly and I decided to spend as much of the day as possible out of the house. We started our day meeting a playgroup at the park, which I will post about next Friday. After that, since it was still early, only 11:30 and Holly wasn't tired, we headed into Downtown Berkeley, Found parking right out front, and went in to play. After exploring the 5 main rooms Holly was ready for a break and a quick Brunch. She actually ate an entire container of food.. I can;t recall now what it was though. She did however invent a new game while eating, the Container "Funny Faces" game. Not only did she like to squish the lid on her face, but she thought it was hilarious to squish it on Mommies.. What a funny face!@The she made a stop at the train table. She quite enjoys these which i am sure Opa will be very excited about. However, she also likes to crash the trains, pull up the tracks, and eat the wheels... So I think it will be quite a while before Opa actually lets her play with "His" trains. Here she is trying to collect as many cars as she can. I think the one she is holding is like a "bart" train, and she has already piled together an Amtrak and a Cargo car. Her new thing is trying to hold 3 or more toys in one hand.. Sometimes she uses the table to help her get started.Later we played int he baby Garden, she needed a break from the commotion of the bigger kids running around, and enjoyed contemplating the life of a carrot. Eventually though she tasked herself to make sure every single carrot was plucked from its home and tossed onto the floor. Another new game of hers.. Throw all the toys and then put them all back.In this case though, she had a basket from the Play grocery Store and decided to instead fill it with Carrots. One of the older kids came to play and removed all of the carrots from inside her little circle and put them back, but she firmly held fast to the last one, for her basket.Moving on, she decided that she would pull all of the pieces out of the puzzle and neatly line them up on the floor. She doesn't know her shapes yet, but she does know that the puzzle pieces come out and then somehow go back in. She isn't so good at matching up where yet, but she does like to put them back "on top" and with Mommies help we find the right slot. While at Habitot we also took a visit to the water room, but i kept my camera safely tucked in while we were there.. She did get a little wet. Then she wandered off to the reading and pillow room, where we hung out int he Quiet till Daddy met us. it was about 2:00 and she was starting to get sleepy from her long morning, and enjoyed Mommy cuddle time with some stories. Daddy's class was near by so when it ended he came to join us. Holly showed him around for a few minutes, but was ready to go.
