Joseph's BBQ

We recently attended Joseph's Annual BBQ and Home Brew Fest. Joseph is a friend and Colleague of Joel's from Tippett, and he has an annual get together where he unveils some home made beer and root beer each year. It's a chance to see friends and colleagues, old and knew, and there are always a bunch of kids in attendance. This year Mike (Farney) Marylee, Miriam and Issac were in attendance which was really fun for Holly, as there were some kidlettes close to her age to play with. Once she made herself at home she headed strait for the swing, which Joseph was nice enough to pull out for us (his kids are older now)But before long she wanted to see what all the excitement was in the Sand Box. This is a new concept for her, and she seems to rather like it.She doesn't play quite as sophisticatedly as Miriam with her sifting and scooping, but she does like to dump out buckets of sand and she is starting to learn to dig a little bit. This shovel was a little big for her, but is was red and shiny and good to chew on, so she held tight. Before long though, she was off to the next thing, wanting to see what the big kids were doing of course, and look its a new kind of swing! And look, with just a little help from dad, she was able to hold on tight and back and forth she went. So cute.. her feet don;t reach the foot rest yet, but she did a great job keeping her balance, and she was so happy to get to ride on the big swing. There was wonderful food, chicken and turkey burgers, lots of fruit and snacks, and the Root Beer was great. I think there was a Pale Ail as well and maybe an Amber, Joel tried one of each, and they were certainly a hit.We took turns snacking and eating, as you can see, this little one doesn't stop for a minute, and is always ready for action. So it was off to the slide. She couldn't climb up this latter on her own, but she talked Daddy into helping her out.Once she was up there, she enjoyed hanging out letting the big kids go by and surveying the play ground. But with a little help from Mommy she went Zoom down the slide.. It was steep and had a little wave in it, so she found it quite thrilling and wanted to go over and over again!

She took a break for some snacks, and Mommy and Daddy had a lot of time to Socialize and chat with all the Party Goers. Even though the kids were bigger they did a really good job watching out for Holly and she did get a lot of time to explore.Except for trying to walk in front of the swings, she did a good job of staying out of trouble. I didn't get a picture of it, but there was a cool riding tractor that she loved pushing all around the yard, but Miriam hopped on and then it was too heavy to push. Here Holly and Daddy are saying goodbye, it was a long afternoon and we had a great time.

A Year in Retrospect

I can't believe Holly is old enough now, that she is doing things for the "second" time, like this BBQ. This is a picture of her in June 2008 when we are getting ready to leave the house to get to the BBQ

I think both years the BBQ started t 2:00, I remember that it was almost 4:00 when we arrived last yer, with a 3 month old, we weren't that Savvy at getting out of the house yet. This year we did much better, and were only an hour late.I'm not even sure if this cool dragon is still in there yard, but it is Sadly the only picture I took at the BBQ. Last year, I remember wearing Holly in the Bjorn most of the time. This is a picture of her all tuckered out on the way home... Wasn't she such a little thing.. I can;t wait till next year, so we can compare again, she will be giant by then!

Great bbq, what a lovely child friendly garden they have. Must have been a blast. I bet the beers were good too, organic and home made - yummy!
