Random Thoughts Tuesday

So this is a random thoughts Tuesday, we will see if I have anything to talk about. I am exhausted. This past weekend Joel had his Ludum Dare Contest and I was watching Holly on my own all weekend long. I know, its not like its any different then what I do during the week, but during the week I only have to make it till about 7:00 and then Joel gets home from work and I have a break. I also look forward to the weekends when Joel usually lets me sleep in, but this weekend I got up at 10:00 so Joel could work on his project.

Really what am I whining about, I got to sleep in till 10:00, when there are other mommies (and in this house - daddy's) waking up at the crack of dawn with there wee ones, but Holly is usually a late sleeper, getting up at around 8:00-9:00 most days, and I am lucky that Joel gets up with her until he leaves for work around 9:30. On the weekends he will usually let me sleep until about noon, the extra two hours makes a big difference, especially when I was up until about 3:00 am the night before. I'm that late though, because its the only chance I have to blog, read email, pay bills, watch TV, or spend any time to myself, as little miss stays up until at least 10:00 if not later.

So Joel owes me. I meant to go to the movies all last week and never made it, it is crazy but I might go this week before my trip to NY which I will get to in a moment. I really want to see the time traveller's wife, both Joel's mom and my mom have already seen it, I'm like always the last person to see movies now, but I guess that's what happens when you have a baby. I want to see the taking Woodstock movie too, but I think my sister might like it, so I might go with her after my trip.

I did get a bit of a break last weekend, on Friday night I went out to dinner with some mom's friends. Joel was actually on triple Holly duty that weekend, and gave me a huge break. I had a Doctor's appointment that Friday morning, then dinner on Friday night, Saturday I slept in and then I had another Doctor's appointment the following Monday. Then this past Friday I had a WASC conference call. So from Joel point of view he has been doing a lot of extra Holly duty, even though he loves it, she take a lot of energy to keep up with.

But except for my dinner, I wasn't doing a lot of fun me stuff, so I still feel like I need a break. My dinner was a lot of fun, it was at a place called Zen, a new posh restaurant in Alameda, it was California Pan Asian Fusion or some such thing. We had a reservation for 7:00 and I was the first to arrive, they immediately told me they were about to cancel our reservation because no one was there, so I better take the table now. It was at least 20 more minutes before anyone else came, and during that time, they asked 6 times if I was ready to order, if they could take the second table or if my party was coming. Since I didn't know the other mom's so well I was starting to get worried that no one would show up.
Since I have a nifty iPhone I was able to go tot he meet-up site and find the phone number of one of the mom's I knew. It was 7:20 and she hadn't left home yet. the other mom, who organized didn't have her phone number posted anywhere, but she came after a few more minutes. I was thrilled just to not be sitting there alone. It was another 20 minutes before the third mom arrive and 20 more for the last. I sound like I am complaining, I'm not really I had an amazing time, but I guess perhaps we should have the next dinner night out at a more casual place, this was reservations, Friday night, super busy, line out the door for a table, and not super conducive to mom's who are 30-60 minutes late to dinner.

There was 1 chicken dish on the menu, luckily it was something I liked. it was sweet and salty, similar to Teriyaki, but not. The other fun think was the drink menu! I ordered something tropical and sweet, it was delicious. The conversation was wonderful. Everyone was there by 8:00 and we stayed until after 10:30, Joel was even able to put Holly to bed on his own. I was impressed. He said she hardly missed me at all, once she was distracted with her dinner and got over me leaving.

Well now that the weekend is over I have to start and get ready to pack for my trip to NY. I am sure there will be a week worth of blogs about my visit to NY and my friend Stephanie's wedding, but before all of that fun, I have to pack. So far I have mostly set aside all of Holly's cloths, and I made a list of supplies I will need for my mom to buy. My parents are taking the train up from Florida to New York to meet me at the wedding. They are arriving the day before, so will have time to get me formula, baby food, diapers, string cheese, all that daily stuff we need.

I took this picture when Holly and I were watching Baby Einstein's "On The Move, Things That Go" we were talking about how we were going on a trip and it was going to be in an airplane instead of the car, and I was telling her how Oma and Opa were taking the train, and so I thought I would post this picture of her watching the train and learning about it.

So other then packing all of the bottles and my cloths, I don't think it will be too much to prepare. But there is a lot of stuff I need to do before leaving, like get Kat's phone turned back on, pick up litter and cat food for her, call the airlines to get a gate pass for Joel, and I am sure there are a million other little details I have to remember, but for now, all I know is that in the morning I am going to get a massage to help keep me relaxed for my trip to NY. Five hours in a plane with a 23 pound baby, I might need a second massage when I get home.

Holly has been eating pretty good this week, for dinner tonight we had sausage and chicken with pepper and onions and saffron rice. Holly loved it. She had about 3 pieces of sausage and about 15 onions and peppers. Its crazy how much she likes those. its weird though, one day she likes something the next she refuses to eat it. I actually get her to eat more when she is not in the high chair and she thinks she is eating my food, hmmm...

Well I guess that's my random thoughts of the week! Enjoy.

Ooooh... Since this is random, I will end with this last little image. So on I Heart Faces a few weeks ago was the theme of Bubbles, and I wanted to get some water bubbles in the bath, but Joel was convinced that there weren't water bubbles that were big or visible, so this picture is of a bubble in the water, unfortunately there wasn't also a face in the picture, so we couldn't actually submit this picture!

Awwwwwww! That is a gorgeous picture of Holly, I love her cheeky smile and great purple dress/top. Just so cute, wish I could meet her! It is important to still have time to yourself you are right and I can totally understand that you feel wiped out at the end of the week and look forward to weekends. I have Sam for Katie sometimes but she has no help at all from Saleh who sleeps in until he works late afternoon and doesn't get home until after Sam is in bed. You're never going to be the last person to see movies because that is me. The cinema is always so packed full of people with my anxiety I just can't go there often and usually wait for dvd's. Everything over here unless it's English made is 6 months after you guys too before being released, lol. That is so uncomfortable when noone shows up on time at a busy restaurant. Just like Pheobes' birthday in Friends, hehe. Poor you! Glad they had something yummy and chicken. I really love how string cheese is one of your "daily things" you mention, you're so cute. I didn't get to meet Stephanie. You and your packing and organising, you are so good at it!
