Hot Tub

Holly loved running around the porch at the Beach House we stayed at. She likes the glass and pressing her face on in and looking out at the beach below. She loved the wind blowing in her hair. The sounds of the waves. But mostly she got a little obsessed with the hot tub. Mommy and Daddy mostly used it after she went to bed because she had a tendency to want to be by mommies side at all times, but on one afternoon after a long walk the grannies jumped in. That was the end of it. From then on, she cried at the porch door, told us open over and over again, and if we let her out she ran to the hot tub and tried to climb up the stairs. It was set to about 103 degrees and was way too hot for her.I know this because I called the doctor before coming to ask if she was allowed to use the hot tub. I was told not until she was at least three and then for only 15 minutes.Well luckily Nana Mary had the brilliant idea of turning the temperature down to something acceptable. We settled on 96 degrees. The warm pool is 92 degrees, but her body temperature is 98, so it wouldn't be hot enough to give her a fever or over heat her.It took a few hours to cool off, and we dumped in a few buckets of cold water to speed things up, but my goodness, she was the happiest baby in the world once she was allowed to jump in.Her first time in the water with Daddy and she got to sit on Mommies lap and splash and play and cuddle, the water was warm and cosy and the air was crisp and she had an amazing time.We watched the sunset sitting in the hot tub cuddling out little toddler and she was happy as a clam. She loves the water, and since her beach time had been so limited, this totally hit the spot.Sadly, we created a monster, and she would ask for more several times over during the next few days, I think it was her favorite activity, but alas, we turned the temp back to normal so the grown-ups could enjoy a relaxing dip.It was her only time in the hot-tub, but she had a blast. We let her out onto the porch many more times and sometimes sat her on top of the hot tub when she tried to climb up, she still enjoyed looking down at the waves below but our water baby sure missed getting to sit in the hot tub a second time. These are some views from the porch and the windows in the sitting room, I loved sitting out in the wind and reading. It was so calm and so peaceful. The grannies thought it was cold out there, so when they weren't in the hot tub they were looking out from inside. But on this particular weekend I was reading a book called everyday blessings, for my Book Club, which you will hear more about soon, and while reading and meditating I would be so present in the moment feeling the wind, and listening to the waves, that I was touched by the warmth of the sun between the gusts of wind, and those moments were so plentiful that I didn't feel cold at all.
