We got Holly to bed last night at like 9:30. It was amazing. We got to watch Battlestar Galactica and eat Ice Cream uninterrupted! She only had 1 nap, so I am sure that was why.. And well we suffered later when she woke up at 4:00 AM “Starving” for a bottle and then once we got her back to sleep her cough made her throw up so she needed to be changed and her Crib “fixed” she didn’t actually throw up bad and we had a blanket down so only that got wet and her cloths so we didn’t have to change the sheets or anything, but by the time it was all said and done it was almost 5:30.
This morning she woke up around 10:00 and wasn’t going to be taking a nap so I called Katie to verify if she was coming based on Holly’s current symptoms and she said she would and could come early. This was great. So she arrived around 11:30 just after some breakfast yogurt and stayed until about 1:15. By then Holly was very fussy and ready for a nap. So only slept like 30 minutes because I transferred her to the crib, but it was long enough for me to eat a sandwich.
Since I woke up feeling really sick myself with a cough and sore throat I decided to lay back down with her in bed and she fell back asleep. She stayed asleep until 4:00. She was very well rested and in a great mood when she woke up and we spent the afternoon playing. She had a little more of an appetite tonight and ate a little more of the green beans and the rest of her morning yogurt and a few scoops of homemade Squash.
This weekend was pretty uneventful. We had a tentative Playdate with Cole and Aleutia after their morning swim class, and we were thinking about going to the Asian Art Museum for Free First Sunday and a Chinese New year Celebration but because we were both sick we spent most of the day sleeping, resting, and being sick.
During Katie’s session today we went through her HELP Sheets to prepare for her current evaluation, she is doing pretty good. Her range for most things is 9-13 months, there are a few gross motor skills below that she doesn’t have but for the most part she is on track. She is further behind in language then the other categories which is frustrating because the regional center does not approve Speech therapy until she is 18 months. I hope to get an Evaluation next time we are at UC Davis and then use that to persuade them to get it earlier. Well thats it for now.

Hi!
With regard to speech therapy, my son is three and it is a battle I am still fighting. A year ago, I finally went and got a private speech evaluation, which I paid for out of pocket. I then, with diagnosis in hand, got him in for speech therapy - which I also paid out of pocket. As of his magical third birthday, the school district now picks it up because he has an IEP for his Autism diagnosis. However, there is still much issue over what his official speech diagnosis is, so we're heading back to the private Speech Language Pathologist. Ugh.
This is a service people don't want to help parents secure for their children. I won't say it is impossible, but it is not easy! If there's anything I can help you with, please feel free to ask! I haven't read much through your blog yet, but I will. Not sure if you've considered Signing Time, but I got the DVDs through our library and they were integral in my son's speech advancements.
Anyhow, nice blog, and your little one is absolutely adorable!
I hope you're both feeling better SOON! I also hope there's a way you can find speech therapy earlier for Holly. Keep us posted!
Hi Vicki..(got the name right). Hope you and Holly are feeling better soon. The services offered here in VA allow speech therapy @ 6 months. What reason do they give for delaying services until 18mo.
18 months! That's ridiculous especially given the fact that she has a diagnosis that should immediately qualify her for services wherever she is delayed.
