Beck's Birthday - 3/10

The weekend before Holly's Birthday we went to a party at Beck's Pad to celebrate him turning two.He is one day older then Holly, and thankfully celebrated the weekend before, so we could attend. This was the weekend Holly's granny and Nana were visiting to help her celebrate so we brought them along to meet our friends. There was a bouncy house! Holly was so very excited about that and she immediately ran to it and tried to climb in, before we even said hello. The weather was nice and the party was at Beck's house int he Backyard, the afternoon was perfect to be outside.Holly loved the sand table, I think we really need to get something like this for Holly outside. Right now our backyard is a mess. They have Sand and Water tables, but I am not sure if I want her to make mud yet. We got her a Sand Box, so maybe she just needs a water table.Of course once she played in the bouncer and then the sand, she found the stairs and immediately tried to run upstairs and practice her climbing. It was nice to have granny visiting to chase her around, go and fetch her and bring her back to the play area. She is wearing a very sweet looking outfit, and she got many compliments on it. We call it "New York Sheik" as Granny bought it for her while she was in NY Visiting Uncle Alan.Beck had a lot of really cool toys for his friends to play with, this was one of Holly's favorite, and since we haven't gotten back to the Doggie park yet, she hadn't seen it for a while. It also provided us an opportunity to work with her on turn taking, as of course all of the kids wanted to take rides in the car, and only of course when someone else was. Here is Evie from Music class, we had no idea that her mom Patrice knew Carol, Beck's mom, but they did know each other which was very neat. Here is Josette, joining in on the fun, I love her cool pink knitted hatHere is Eli, I love the cute little face he is making here. And another great picture of Josette, ready to play now. Look there is even a crawling tube, which Holly did play with later int he afternoon. Here is the Birthday Boy with his Mamma Blowing out his candles. Instead of cake there were mini cupcakes, they were amazing. Here is Holly taking a little break with Daddy from all of the excitement. Also, we got to see Johnny, another baby and Mom we didn't realize knew Carol and Beck. it was great seeing Johnny outside of Music class and getting a chance to talk with him mom. These are the wonderful mini cupcakes, chocolate with yummy frosting and perfect size for the kids. Plus look at the amazing decorations.Beck's dad is a Graphic Designer and he made these really cool toppers with all of our favorite characters. This was another favorite shot of ours, First that the beer is all "Beck's" and then of course the sippy cup in with the beer and ice! Classic. Here is Adrian, having a great time playing and hanging out at the party.I love Gabe's little hat. It has been a signature piece for him, a few times now I have seen him with Mom and Dad out and about, and spotted the hat first, then realized they were at the event. Here is Mila and I think that is her mom int he back ground taking a photo of something else, It is so great getting to see her.One thing so great about the bouncy house is most of the kids were holly;s age, so it was just right competition for the bouncing and the balls. She is so cute trying to make a basket, she saw some of the dads helping there boys make a basket, it was great.Did I mention the Bouncy house Collapsed? Haha, yes. I wish I had a picture of it, when we arrived it was pretty soft, and when an adult got inside, it was kind of droopy.I just figured it was because it was a rental, rather then an "industrial strength" kind at Pump it up, and Holly sort of liked the squishiness.Well later on one of the slightly older kids was inside jumping and sort of crashing into the side, and the whole this was ready to tilt, we lifted it up.The the roof started to collapse. Holly was inside and didn't want to come out, I wasn't terrified or anything, it was all happening in slow motion and I could hold the roof up as it fell giving her plenty of space. She thought it was hilarious and was having a great time. I think eventually Daddy or granny climbed in to pull her out and then the Dads went to see what happened. It seems that the intake tube was twisted, so it wasn't getting the full amount of air, which was why it was squishy to begin with. Once it was plugged back in sans twist all was good. Here Holly is taking a bite of her cupcake, she really only wanted the topper and then she just licked off all the frosting and handed me the cupcake to finish. They were quite yummy and perfect bite sized for Mommy, well two or three bites, I take small ones. She also liked the shiny wrapper, which I had to take away from her so she wouldn't chew on it. She wasn't excited about that.I thought that is was such a great idea to make the little cupcakes, but it must have been so much work, there were hundreds of them and the icing on each was so perfect.Everything at the party was s pretty, the decorations and the snacks and deserts, the aesthetic was wonderful. You could tell that a lot of attention was spent on all of the little details, and that really made for a special day.It was so nice to see so many friends, before arriving we thought there might only be 2-3 other babies that we knew, but it ended up we knew almost everyone.I know I have said this over and over, but it always amazes me how interconnected everyone is and what a small world of toddler's it really is.So here we are back to the car again. the little rascle is sometimes very determined Mila had been playing with it for a while and Holly was stalking her, to run to it the moment she got out.I think Granny was having a nice time, it was fun for her to meet so many of the people she had been reading about over the last several months. And seeing Holly in action simply doesn;t compair to the photos, she has so much energy and is always ont he go, its hard to portray that in pictures.Just the idea of the bouncy house and taking on and off her shoes, she would run to jump in, jump for about 5 minutes climb out and go somewhere else.Granny kept putting her shoes and socks back on, which I suppose is the responcible thing to do, but I knew she would run to the car or the sand, and then 5 minutes late back to the bouncer. She did this about 35 times throught the afternoon. She was really excited to have a bouncer to herself, and not to have to share it with 20 other bigger kids.At the party there were only ever 3-4 in it at a time, and they were all her size, so it was a great time for her. Here is the little gift box, party favor. It was very sweet, and had some bubbles and crayons and stickers. She was excited to have something to open up, she had been stalking the gift table all afternoon, she remembered from Christmas about opening gifts. There was a cool kids table covered in paper where the kids were drawing and ended up leaving all kinds of fun Birthday messages.Holly had a lot of fun at the sand table, now that she is so good at shoveling and filling up the bucket. This car is another favorite of Holly's. Adrian had a fun time driving around in it.Its great because two kids can play with it at once, there is always one who wants to push and one who wants to ride, and they can all take turns. This was cute also, the little inch worm. holly doesn;t have a lot of riding toys, and she doesn;t really use the ones she has in the house, they are too small now.So she had a lot of fun trying out all of these. We were so inspired that later int he weekend we went down to Toy's R Us and granny got her a tricycle for her Birthday.Daddy decided to climb intot he Bouncy house with Holly now that it was firm and getting all its air, it felt much more stable, She was excited to have him help her shoot baskets. She was so excited to make baskets all on her own, well with a little help from her Daddy. She had been trying to make the basket all afternoon.I think the speed of this bouncer was much more to Daddy's pace, trying to keep up with Holly at Pump It Up is exausting. Here is Eli, Jessie and Scot one there way out, the party was slowly beginning to die down.Holly was starting to wind down a little herself, taking a rest and sitting with Mila to draw a picture. The rest didn;t last too long before she was up and running around again, here she is trying to get Josette to chase her with the lawn mower.Holly had her 15th wind, and had to make one more round around the backyard before she would let us leave, so we made the rounds and began our goodbyes. We couldn't leave without another go in the car of course, which seems to have been decorated by all of the kids.We want to thank beck for including us on his fun day! We had a wonderful time.
