When You Can't Have Water

We have actually only went to San Pablo park once since Kat's return. It's surprising. We are so busy, and then the days that we are not we are trying to get things done around the house.Recently Holly has really been into Sand. She likes to pour it and run her fingers through it, scoop it. Many of the same things she does with water, except you can't quite splash in it.Kat had a lot of fun sitting in the Sand with her. She was trying to show her how to use the shovel so that she could more quickly fill the bucket, but she was determined to use her fists. It was easier to fill the bottom lip with sand rather then filling the entire bucket. We would fill and dump in an effort build sand castles but without the water they didn't stand up.Its fun to play with Holly in the sand because she is so curious, she is my little scientist. She is testing out one experiment after another, How will it pour if I do this, what will happen if I scoop that that? How do I get the sand to pile up here, and when I stir and gab with that shovel thing, why doesn't the sand stay on?Like a cascading waterfall the sand flows through the air, Holly stairs on in utter fascination. She is hypnotized, mesmerized.Just like in the bath she reaches out to try and catch the sand, but it is fleeting and falls right through her little fingers.I think I got carried away with the pictures of sand. Its just that I love seeing how curious she is, her little face in fascination.Sadly her favorite bucket has broke. She still carries it around with her everywhere, she has new buckets but she defaults to this one always.Eventually she moved on to other areas of the park. She loves these little counting stones, they are like an abacus, she loves pushing them all from one side to the other. These are so great because they make her stretch up really big and reach for the very top row. This is a little Frisbee she found in the sand and decided she would adopt and carry with her everywhere. She wouldn't put it down even to go down the slide. This is such a cute picture of Holly and Kat playing together. She was so curious to hear Kat's whispers echo in her ear and she looked in to search for the sounds. She carried this cone over to play with from the middle of the park. She is so strong and when she is determined to do something, she doesn't let anything get in her way.She loves the park and I will be sad when the days are so cold that I become reticent to go as often as we do now. But until then she is barefoot and beautiful without a care in the world. She runs, she laughs, she smiles, she plays. I love her so much!

That was beautiful! I even got teary eyed over it (and I don't do that easily!).
I love Holly so too!
