Ice Cream Social

Last month one of the moms in my group hosted an Ice Cream Social. She actually won a party from Dreyer's for writing an essay about her neighborhood. The prize was a party for about 70 people with all the ice cream you could eat. She hosted it at her home out front in the yard over a four hour period. She said about that many mom's, Dad's and Babies came and went through the afternoon. We stopped by late in the day, we had earlier plans.Along with the Ice Cream they had this amazing bouncy house. Holly is starting to love these. She isn't jumping on her own yet, but she really likes to crawl and walk across the surface keeping her balance. When the other kids jump it bounces her around. It is a very vestibular activity and she likes all the sensory input. Since it was at someones house, all the grown-up were joining in on the fun.
She went in on her own and with some of the other kids, but we couldn't resist all taking a turn with her. it was so much fun for Daddy because it was his first time seeing her in a bouncy house. This is the little door, she likes crawling in and out, it was really fun for her to climb up and then tumble inside the opening on the other side. She also had fun "Crashing" into the sides. Here she is Jumping with Tanta Kat. Look at that stretching. Kat is a little rougher with her then we are, but I think that's what Tanta's are for.She loved to fall and then get up and then fall back again. Unfortunately she likes it so much she has started doing this on our bed. it wouldn't be a problem except she has no regard for the edges. She is concentrating really hard here, and so excited. When the other kids are inside it is more of a challenge to run from one end to the other. She almost has the hang of it. She gets the bending of the knees and the sitting and getting up, she never actually falls, all of her movements are very controlled, it won't be long before she is bouncing. She is doing "Big Steps" here, like a march. She loves doing this and walking in different ways, I think she likes the resistance of the ground when she stomps down.We all had Ice Cream, including Holly and we all took turns in the bouncy house. But before long they came to take it away, a storm was brewing. We took breaks and played int he yard, and after about an hour or slightly more of exhausting fun we went home.
