Day @ The Glen - Part Deux

Once Holly was dry and changed we were off to explore the rest of the fair. We were eager to try out the Petting Zoo. Last time we were around farm animals Holly was scared, so I was tentative.Holly loves Ducks though, so she immediately ran over to them and held onto the fence watching them. She was excited to see the Ducks and didn't even notice all the other animals wandering around next to her.By the time she was done looking at the Ducks she had gotten used to the other animals. I was also worried about all of the grown ups walking around towering over her, but I guess mommy worries too much because she did amazingly. She was curious about the animals, I think it helped that they were all about her height and not large towering types like a cow or horse. She followed them around to see what they were up to.Eventually she even ventured to give them a pet. She liked this pig because his skin was all prickly, it was a neat and new texture. She also pet the goats and was excited to feel there fur. There was an area for Pony rides but they wouldn't let the parents walk around the ring with the kids so we couldn't try and put Holly on the horse. Also, I am allergic, so I wouldn't be able to have walked with her anyways. We spent a while with the animals and then headed on to the next area. There were food booths and vendors. We had Ice cream on our way over to the Water Feature and then on the way back out we had Flavored Icees. At the Vendor booths they had fun toys for the kids to play with. There were vendors for places like Gymboree, but also Mom and Pop toy stores that had some display models. Holly loved the Music Box at the Gymboree booth. She began by emptying out the box, one by one trying out each instrument. Many of these she was familiar with from Music Class, but others were new and exciting. Like the extra large tambourine. There were a lot of fun drums but she particularly loved the one that had the silver beads around the end that shake and rattle. I am not sure what the instrument is called but I want to get her one of them. There were also fun dress up toys for her to play with. In particular we enjoyed the wizard hat. I think Gymboree is really cool, the times we have gone she had a lot of fun in the play space they provide. But when you sign up for it, the average cost is around 17$ per 1 hour play period. Which I think is way to pricey for what you get, and feel like she can play with similar toys at any number of indoor playgrounds we go to.After the booths was the "Ride" section of the fair. There were several bouncy houses that I really wanted to let her play in, but it was super super hot, so much so that they said it might be uncomfortable for her to bounce bare foot, or crawl and climb with her hands.Instead we opted to take a really fun train ride with Chloe around the fair. Holly has grown to really adore train rides and we do them whenever we can. She has a lot of fun looking around at everything, but also I think getting to sit in Mommy's lap. Here little miss Holly is. She is temporarily our engineer. She likes sitting in the "Captains" chair and steering the big wheel. We were thinking particularly of her Opa when we took this picture. Here is a picture of Holly and Her Tanta Kat. my dad loved the fact that in addition to a cool train, the background was of the titanic sinking. It was a cool bouncer slide, but we didn't go on it.Here are Katherine, Eric, and Chloe in front of the train. One of the best parts about fun weekend get togethers, is that the whole family gets to go. It is fun seeing the girls interact with there daddies. We had a few spare tickets and decided to take a chance going down this giant slide. I had three left but they told me Holly didn't need one, so we had a spare so that she could go down it again. The first time she sat on Tanta Kat's lap and had Mommy next to her for comfort, but she had so much fun she signed more and pointed up to the top, so back up the stairs Tanta Kat went and they slide down a second time.Mommy had a lot of fun on the slide to and was glad to have went down with them the first time. It was a hot late summer (early fall) day and Daddy was hot, so he was sitting in the shade watching us.Of course ready to take all these cool pictures. We ended up staying at the fair much later the we originally intended, but we had so much fun in the water area, that it took us a while to mozie on over to the rest of the fair.I wanted to take Holly on the Ferris Wheel too, but Joel wouldn't let me, he was worried about the heights and Holly falling, there wasn't a way to really strap her in because she was so little, so she would be only on my lap.But I think in the end, the slide was just the right dose of daring to meet our needs, I can already tell, as soon as she is tall enough she will totally be in love with riding Roller Coasters, Just like her mommy.
