Playdate @ Chloe's

Tuesday was a fun day, in the afternoon we went to Chloe’s for a play date. At first it was just Holly, Chloe, and Joshua, but then a bunch of people came and went, and even Teagan and Rhonda came. Gabriel’s mom made these delicious dark chocolate mint thin cookies, they were so good. Chloe as usual had all kinds of fun new toys for us to play with. Some her mom just got off craigslist, other’s she rotated out from the upstairs playroom. One of the all time favorites was the door, window, mail box. The babies all love to chew on the mail. Another new toy was a kitchen. Holly loved opening and closing the refrigerator door and putting items inside.

Another fun toy was like the Giraffe ball shorter she has but in this one there was air that blew the balls up into the area where it falls down the spiral, and then inside you can see them blowing before they pop up and spin. Well Holly started to laugh and laugh as each ball popped up and then she tried to quickly catch them and throw them to the floor before they fell down the spiral. It was so cute. Joshua was the oldest and he was 18 months.

Holly was cruising around and at one point her knees were pressing against a blow up toy, with almost no support at all and she let go, holding onto two balls, chewing them, and stood for like 20-30 seconds. It was amazing.

She has been doing so much towards learning to walk. In the bath the last several nights she has been standing on her own, perhaps the water helped give her buoyancy or a little extra confident. Then tonight she was holding onto my foot and let go and then sorta took a step as she fell forward and caught the couch. I swear she will be walking before I know it.

Sleep has not been fun as of late. Well it is touch and go, that’s a better description. Today she was very sleepy and laid down for a nap right at 10:30 but then for some reason, that I am not sure of woke up at 11:30, but because she was still sleepy and tired she was extremely tired. Then I was able to trick her into falling back asleep at 4:00 for an evening nap, but I hadn’t realized the washer and dryer were going, so later when they were finished and all was quiet, our neighbors kids came home and were playing in the back, she heard them and woke up. For ten minutes we struggled with her trying to fall back asleep, closing her eyes for a minute and me rubbing her back, then hearing a noise and opening them again, until finally she couldn’t take it anymore and got mad and sat up.. Once that happened it was pointless to continue to try and let her get rest, as she would get frantic and have a meltdown if I didn’t take her out of the room.

Then tonight we had friends over to watch Lost, so Joel was going to try and put her to bed. Since both naps were only 45-60 minutes she was very tired, but as soon as Joel tried to lay down with her she started screaming. So I ended up holding her in my lap for the last 20 minutes of the show and then putting her to bed myself. I am not sure if it was the extra 20 minutes or the fact that it was me, but although she did cry when I went into the bedroom, it wasn’t as frantic as with Daddy, and she didn’t push the bottle away, but took it and then settled down and since she was so tired she actually fell fast asleep.

Two days ago she also woke up after only 45 minutes in the morning, and was cranky. Today she was so grumpy that she did not want anything to do with Sally. Sally tried to take it easy with her but even when she simply tried to initiate play or a game she would make that face and if Sally didn’t back off right away the cry would come. Sometimes she got right over it, but other times I had to pick up and rock her before she would calm down. So not much was done today, and while I had high hopes to go out and run errands and go to the park she was just to grumpy. It was also really hot, so after her second nap we went to pick up the veggie box. I was going to stop by the park then, but I heard her grunting and groaning in the back, so I knew she had a poopie, and we ended up going home to get changed, but I think she was in a better mood after that.

Today she was being a good eater. She had a Full yogurt after her first nap, a full container of green Beans after Therapy, and a whole container of Apple, Vanilla, and granola for dinner. She also had various snacks and about a quarter container of mommy’s yogurt smoothie from a sippy cup.

It was a pretty blah day, but tomorrow is a new day and we have exciting plans..

I hope today's less of a "blah" day! :)
