The main excursion we took while my parent's were visiting was a trip to the

Roaring Camp Railroads:

Located in the Santa Cruz mountains we took a 75 minute round trip ride through the redwoods

There was a quaint little village by the rain stop

You could go to the general store and get a souvenir

Check out an Ole Time Post Office

The had a little play house and a BBQ area

Out in the fields they even had a bouncy house

Holly had a lot of fun getting to run around a wide open expanse

Having the ability to explore everywhere

While we were waiting for our train to arrive at the station

This is a Steam Engine from the 1800's I think

It was very cool looking and super old.

We boarded the train. The option to sit under a canopy or in the open air

Since it was a warm shady day we sat out in the open and soaked in the view

Holly was not a fan of staying in her seat

She wanted to walk around but instead we compromised on letting her sit on the floor

Look at that puff of steam isn't it beautiful

Here is the Ticket Collector, hmm Train Conductor? Is that right.

It was neat how he was able to climb from car to car while the train was going

After about 35 minutes we got to a little camp

Everyone had a chance to get out and walk around through the woods

The scenery was amazing and it was the perfect weather

Holly loved being outside and she really liked the train

She is so totally into them now always wanted to ride them when we go to the zoo

And when we are driving she always notices the Bart and points it out "Choo Choo"

She liked getting to run around after siting for a while during the ride

We had a lot of snacks for her to keep her occupied

She wanted to climb up on all of the trees

Tanta Kat had lots of fun chasing her around

Then the conductor yelled "All Aboard" and we were off for the rest of our trip

She loved looking up. I think it is the first time she really did it

The first time she noticed things above her and she would hang tight onto Mommy and lean way back

Looking straight up into the sky at the tallest trees she has ever seen

It was Beautiful. Here we are going over a bridge of sorts

It sure does look rickety

It was neat when they would blow the whistle and let the steam out

Back at base Camp we played for a few more minutes

Holly found some water and just had to pan for gold

It seems however that the little rascal got thrown in jail

She does seem to cause a lot of mischief.

It was a wonderful day and we had a lot of fun, especially Holly which was a treat

I was really glad that she had such a good time and that she was able to attend to the group activity for so long.

It had been a long day too and she was ready to nap

It was still another hour drive back home, so she was able to rest then. Our Visit with Oma and Opa was great. We can;t wait to see them again, just another 6 or so weeks.

Fabulous photos! The shots of the trees are amazing. That looks like a really fun adventure. How cool that Opa has this hobby to share with everyone!
