We're Going on a Train Ride

The main excursion we took while my parent's were visiting was a trip to theRoaring Camp Railroads: http://www.roaringcamp.com/steam.htmlLocated in the Santa Cruz mountains we took a 75 minute round trip ride through the redwoodsThere was a quaint little village by the rain stopYou could go to the general store and get a souvenirCheck out an Ole Time Post OfficeThe had a little play house and a BBQ areaOut in the fields they even had a bouncy houseHolly had a lot of fun getting to run around a wide open expanseHaving the ability to explore everywhereWhile we were waiting for our train to arrive at the stationThis is a Steam Engine from the 1800's I thinkIt was very cool looking and super old.We boarded the train. The option to sit under a canopy or in the open airSince it was a warm shady day we sat out in the open and soaked in the viewHolly was not a fan of staying in her seatShe wanted to walk around but instead we compromised on letting her sit on the floorLook at that puff of steam isn't it beautifulHere is the Ticket Collector, hmm Train Conductor? Is that right. It was neat how he was able to climb from car to car while the train was goingAfter about 35 minutes we got to a little campEveryone had a chance to get out and walk around through the woodsThe scenery was amazing and it was the perfect weatherHolly loved being outside and she really liked the trainShe is so totally into them now always wanted to ride them when we go to the zooAnd when we are driving she always notices the Bart and points it out "Choo Choo"She liked getting to run around after siting for a while during the rideWe had a lot of snacks for her to keep her occupiedShe wanted to climb up on all of the treesTanta Kat had lots of fun chasing her aroundThen the conductor yelled "All Aboard" and we were off for the rest of our tripShe loved looking up. I think it is the first time she really did itThe first time she noticed things above her and she would hang tight onto Mommy and lean way backLooking straight up into the sky at the tallest trees she has ever seenIt was Beautiful. Here we are going over a bridge of sortsIt sure does look ricketyIt was neat when they would blow the whistle and let the steam outBack at base Camp we played for a few more minutesHolly found some water and just had to pan for goldIt seems however that the little rascal got thrown in jailShe does seem to cause a lot of mischief. It was a wonderful day and we had a lot of fun, especially Holly which was a treatI was really glad that she had such a good time and that she was able to attend to the group activity for so long.It had been a long day too and she was ready to napIt was still another hour drive back home, so she was able to rest then. Our Visit with Oma and Opa was great. We can;t wait to see them again, just another 6 or so weeks.

Fabulous photos! The shots of the trees are amazing. That looks like a really fun adventure. How cool that Opa has this hobby to share with everyone!
