Messy Art Day @ Holly's House

After Messy Art day I was inspired to host a Messy art play date of my own.It was such an amazing sensory experience I decided to invite over kids from my Special needs Playgroup. It was the first time we hosted an event at our place with this group. The timing was hard and last minute a few couldn't come. But we still had Nathan, Citlali, Quinn, and Robin which I felt was a good small sizeThe kids played with shaving cream and paint, we had large sheets of paper out for themThey could make foot prints and hand prints and then they wanted to play in the water tooThey used our play sink to rinse off there hands which lead to water play. It was a hot day so we let them put on bathing suits. We had some snacks which the kids enjoyed. It was really nice to see everyone doing art.Nathan and Citlali came first thing in the morning, but Nathan had to leave after an hourCitlali had to go after lunch. Quinn stopped in then, he liked the gardenThe kids played with the slide, and the swings and play structureI wasn't brave enough to let them roll balls covered in paint down the slide, but who knows, maybe next time.Robin stopped by after lunch and stayed until he and Holly were exhausted and ready for a nap. Here is Citlali painting, she is being careful not to get too messyHolly is more like to paint all over herself these daysWe played with bubbles too which the kids lovedWe also had water spray bottles filled with dyed water that the kids could spray on paper We hung those up on the back fence and they made pretty patterns as the colored water drippedThey used the paint on the easel and we had large sheets of cardboard on the floor they painted too.The water got all messy, mixed with paint and shaving creamIt was like a whole new item on the sensory listThe play date was quite a successIts too bad more people could not make it. I planned on doing it againBut I haven't got around to it yet. Maybe I will next month while Holly is out of schoolHer bathing suit was covered in paint, so she ended up taking it off so she could play in the poolIt was a lovely day to have good friends over and a wonderful time was had by all. it was a good first step follow up to the official Messy Art day.
