Dunsmuir Historical Grounds Easter

On Easter Weekend we headed over to the Dunsmuir Historical Grounds to hang out with our friends and join in the festivities. This is the house, they were giving tours but we didn't make it in time and I doubt Holly would have enjoyed it much. There was a Pony ride near the entrance when we first came in. We waited in line for a turn since the line was short.Holly was so excited by the ponies and pointing at them, until it was her turn that is.Suddenly she wanted nothing to do with the pony and threatened a meltdown when I tried to get her onto the horse.I was surprised because she has really been into the carousel recently but she didn't even want to sit on the horse though I managed to get her to pet it.I loved her two little pony tails, she made mommy put her hair up too so we would match, but hers didn't stay in very long. Here is our friend Maya and her family, we are hoping to have a play date with her soon, we don;t see them nearly as much as we like.We got Sandwiches from Berkeley Bowl on our way to the park and a snack, they were really yummy.Everyone was enjoying the outdoors and went on a long walk with Chloe and there Daddies around the grounds. Here are our friends Sachi and her family, Sachi just recently had her 2nd Birthday, Photo's to follow soon.In the distance on the far end of the field there was a huge bouncy house obstacle course. It was a fee per ride type of thing so the girls didn't need to do it that bad and it was mostly for older kids.Chloe had her hair up in two Pony tails too, it was cute when the two of them matched. We also brought some fun Easter egg baskets for the girls to use when collecting there eggs.We were supposed to meet many families, and we did run into quite a few but it was a big place and we missed a lot of people. The Easter Egg Hunt was cute but not as nice as we hoped, it was basically a roped of area of lawn and each parent was given three eggs.We were supposed to hide these for our child to find and then they would get a prize. We ended up getting a few extra eggs and then once they were found we would sneak them back out onto the grass to be found again.I think more then finding the eggs Holly was really into these flower wind mills. She would spring them around and around. She picked them up and re planted them and organized them and looked through the petals and spun them some more.I think she was a little disappointed that the eggs she found didn't have anything inside, the ones we hid at home were filled. It was q weird day, very sunny outside but super breeze so I had her in tights and long sleeves under her spring Easter Dress. This one looks very classic to me, almost like a Raggedy Anne Doll. It was nice that we had so many Easter events to attend, so she could wear so many different dresses.I really like these felt Easter buckets, Holly's is of a chick, or maybe a duck, the cloth makes for easy storage after the Holidays.Near the Egg hunt area was a mini petting zoo. The line was a bit long by this time for day, but the girls really wanted to pet the bunnies.Mommy was the one who mostly waited in the line while Holly ran off with Daddy chasing her around. We unexpectedly ran into our friend Gabe, whom we were excited to see. He looked so adorable in his Easter outfit. The girls finally got there turn to see the bunnies and climb into the cage with them. they pet them and played with them. Here is Devlin, another friend who we ran into last minute. We were also excited to see them. Since we don't get together with a lot of these friends on a regular basis its always fun when these weekend gatherings come together.I love Gabe in this little hat, he looks like a little man, so grown up. And here he is with Devlin taking there turn with the bunnies. After the animal visit we went back to the picnic area to clean up and gather our stuff. We stopped out the house to let the girls play on the steps and take a few pictures before we left.It was a beautiful day and we had a ton of fun, but it was warm and we were tired and ready to head home.We walked back through the grounds and waited in the sun while Daddy went to get the car, and then headed home for a nap.

That looks like a really fun Easter outing. I love Holly's dress, and she is so cute with the ponytails! And I agree with her, I'd rather sit on a carosel horse than a real one!!!
Love, Granny
