Chinese New Year Parade

Here we are at Holly's school celebrating the start of Chinese New Year. Holly was learning about the holiday throughout January and had a lot of fun. She really likes Dragons and the kids had a wonderful time making the Dragon head for the Parade. They also decorated there classroom which was beautiful, Holly made several paper lanterns which hung along the walls and from the ceiling. At lunch they also tried some traditional Chinese New Year Dishes including some Red Bean Cakes, Holly licked a few items but did not take any bites. During the start of the parade Holly was holding up the middle of the Dragon's Body, later that day she told me she was just like Rintoo who also was "In The Middle" during a dragon parade in an episode of Kai-Lan. He wanted to be the head or the tail so he was mad but learned that every part was important because without the middle the dragon couldn't dance. So Holly told me, she was in the middle and it was very important to help the Dragon march in the parade. Her class danced around the yard and the other kids all had spin and hand drums making great music for the dragon to dance to. I learned that this year began on 2/4 and it a Water Dragon or Black Dragon year. You can't see it because of the jacket but Holly is wearing a cheongsam or qípáo it is pink and she calls it her Mulan dress. A few days later we attended another Chinese New Year party at our friend Brendan's house. More on that later.
