Here we are at the Tot Lot in Berkeley

I had heard about this parks for months and months but never knew where it was.

One summer day when all of our friends were busy and could not come out to play we finally found it.

They had left cars for Holly to ride in and play with

Then of course there was water, that was the end of it.

First it was minor splashing

and then I was able to distract her

She climbed and ran on the ramps

She found some fun bikes to ride on

She actually got really far on the Tricycle all the way up the ramp

but then she found her way right back to the water

Before long she found her way back, stomping up and down

At least she doesn't wear shoes, so they didn't get wet

But her pants got wet and then they were off

There were two little boys who were playing in the water too older, and they got her soaked

She was having a hard time going down the slide, her diaper was soaked through and stuck

on the metal. She was fast to run back to the water now that she had someone to play with

When they went home she headed over to the swings

She was having a great time playing in the park

Under the structure was a little play kitchen area

They left toys were really fun and the kids all enjoyed them

Here she is hanging, this bar was the perfect height

At the time she was only just learning how to hang and did it rarely

Here is the big slide, she liked it a lot. It has been a really long time since I last rated a park, so here goes.

Slides - 1 - Great Slides, both the wide short one and the long tall one
Swings - 1 - Baby swings and big kid swings
Surface - 1/2 - Sand, Grass, Wood, Concrete, mostly they were fine, but a few times I was worried she might hurt herself if she fell.
Shade - 1/2 - There were some shady parts and trees, but many of the surfaces were not shaded and would get very hot.
Climbing - 1 - Lots of opportunities to hang and climb and play
Parking - 1/2 - Street parking only, and it was a crowded street
Bathrooms - 1/2 - If I recall correctly they had them, but I am not sure of the hours and cleanliness
Distance - 1 - Close to home, less then 2-3 miles
Friends - 1 - Tons of children to play with at every turn.
Fun - 1- Tons of fun, some left toys, sand and water, climbing, slides, swings, everything she could want.

And I thought you had discovered ALL the area parks...still some there. Vicki you've gotta write that book...Berkeley Guide to Playgrounds!
