Play date with Ewan

So here we are over at Ewan's house.  We have been joining him every other week for an ABA play date.  These two little ones are so hyper that everything is a blue!

Bouncing balls, jumping on the trampoline, bouncing and jumping at the same time!  Yikes!  Ewan's is our friend from swim and gym.  Our play dates are usually just over a hour because at that point the cooperation begins to fall apart, but its a start.  Last week the kids invented a new game, hide and seek rocket, where a grown up hides the rocket while the kids count and then they seek it.  They had a lot of fun.

Right now Ewan's lives a few blocks from Holly's preschool but they are moving up to Richmond so we might not see them as often as our summer schedule changes and things with a move could be crazy.

Dentist

Here is Holly at her Dentist.  I was so proud of her she did such a good job.  She got through the cleaning and flossing and the counting and checking.  But then they did the polish.  I wasn't sure if it was the taste or if it was the way the tool swirled around each tooth but she flipped.  She couldn't handle it, she tried to be brave and she tried not to cry but she couldn't.  So they stopped the polishing and called in the Dentist to do the rest of the exam.  Next time I really have to have him come in first before she gets so upset and crying.  He was able to look at all the teach and check them and scrape them a little bit.  She had a little plaque behind her front teeth, as behind those teeth is a stop I forget to brush and also her front teeth are really crowded.  She came back with a clean bill of health, no cavities.  Though they didn't get to do as much of the deep cleaning as I had hoped because by then she was super done.  But she still did fabulous.  Waiting in the car for her from the Tooth Fairy was Periwinkle, the newest Fairy from the Winter Woods, Tinkerbell's sister.  She was so happy that the tears nearly dried up in minutes.  She new the Tooth Fairy was bringing her something which gave her the motivation to try so hard to keep it together, but the gift was so much better then she was expecting and just what she had been asking for.  Here's to reflecting and thinking of what we can do to make things even smoother next time.

What does the Kinect, a Wall and a Box Car having in Common?

 They are all fun things to do when playing with Tyler.  On this playdate, while waiting for Emily (The ABA Therapist) to come over and join the fun the kids tried out some dance games on the XBox Connect. No - Holly didn't quite get it, but it was amusing to watch.  Later they marched in a band, had yummy snacks of Yogurt and banana's and when Emily came by together they all built a Wall of Giant Blocks, which is kind of tricky when you have King Caitlyn Kong there trying to knock it down.  Later they decided they wanted to "drive" in a box car and lucky Emily got to be the motor!  Oh joy and thank you for youthful energy, as if they asked me I would have redirected them to a less strenuous on my part game.

Roberts Pool

Here we are on our second day of swim class.  Holly is doing great even though she is thrown for a loop and we have a new sub teacher today.  it is Olivia's first day in class and she is having a blast.  During the class I slowing begin to learn what some of Holly's challenges will be and that is with her arm extension.  I never realized how flexible your arms need to be to learn proper stroke techniques.  So since Holly has such high tone she struggles with getting her arms above her head straight and high and with getting full extension on doing the moves.  But this is of course only day two.  She is better by the end of the month, but it is something we will need to continue to work on if she is to learn to swim.  After swim class we all went over to Hucklebee, a little forested picnic area in the park.  The kids played in nature, built a castle from sticks, Holly pretended to be Merida and made a bow and arrow for herself for pretend.  it was all very cute.  We had snacks and the mommies got to hang out and talk which the kids played.  It was nice having Theo and Kiana, 7, and 6 around to not only lead the play but also keep an eye on the younger girls.  it became a fun summer routine for us.

Table Top Games with Tyler

 Holly and Tyler have been doing so great lately playing with his ABA therapist.  They sit and actually take turns playing table top games, this one is woody's horse and you have to balance items on it before he kicks.  They have played Kid's Settlers, Ants in the Pants, and several others.  They usually also spend time outside, especially when there is water. They play hide and seek and they jump and in general they simply have a blast.
