A Little of This, A Little of That

Not too much to report on, this has been a bit of a low key week. I think it is because I am still batteling this allergy thing, it acts like a sucky cough and I am congested and can't breath half the time, but it's not Ashma and its not a cold, it is just compacted sinus from the weather changes, so there isn't much I can do. Today my glads were swollen and hurt, I can't sleep because when I lay down I have a coughing fit which wakes Holly and is well pretty uncomfortable, so transitioning from awake to asleep and vice versa is a killer. Whine whine whine.... blah I know....

My little bubble butt has been a pain when it comes too sleeping too. Isn't she cute sticking her bum in the air like that its her favorite way to sleep, well and then some of the time she has her blanket over her head too. She likes to wedge her self into the corner pressing up against the crib. But she has been fighting her naps and not wanting to go to bed, the other day she had a night terror again, this one was really bad. That day she had only taken two thirty minute naps, but I wasn;t expecting it because it was too naps and she just woke up early from them and wasn;t cranky and fell asleep right away, but minutes after we transfered her into the crib she woke screaming.

This one was so bad she threw up several times. I was standing in her room Joel had just handed her to me in hopes that maybe I could sooth her, but her eyes were still closed so I realized it was a night terror and then up came the vomit and all I could think was the excorsit. It was horrifying and I was covered in it. I had to undress both of us all the while she was screaming and then I changed her and cleaned everything up, and I took her into bed and just held her tight. All the while her eyes were still closed and she was still screaming like a banshee. After a few more minutes she would settle whimper and then scream.. this went on for another several minutes, I don't remember if I gave her another bottle at this point, I may have and then she threw up again, this time wasn't very bad, more like a spit up from a cough, but this time it it seemed to wake her up a little bit. So she started to look around. We took her at this point into the living room and put on baby Einstien. She was still crying quiet a bit and it didn't help much but then we went to lay down again and this time she was gulping and whimpering but eventually settled. the whole ordeal was maybe 30-40 minutes, but Joel said it felt like forever. I think the scary part is that she isn't reachable when she is in that state, Joel tries to wake her and engage her and talk to her, I have read that that makes it worse, and you become part of the nightmare, so i like to be in the dark dark and just hold her tight and be there and she eventually calms, but it is incredibly humbling to be so out of control and unable to do anything to help. Its pretty sad that she has been having these night terrors so young, they say they don;t start until closer to two years old, but she has had a hand full now, and I know thats what it is.

Today she refused to go down for her mornign nap until almost 11:40 and luckily Sally her PT was able to come back at 1:45 instead of 12:30 letting her sleep for an extra hour, but then at 5:00 even though she was yawning I tried to put her down for a nap and she refused and got pretty cranky about it, so we got up to play and then Joel tried to put her to bed around 9:00 because she was tired and had been awake for seven hours, but she was having none of it, so I calmed her down and waited and then we tried again at 10:15, we had Karma and Saneesh over and we planned on watching lost, but she refused to let Joel put her down, as soon as I left the room she would scream, I would sing or hum or hold her and she would be calm, then if I tried to leave she would yell, so finally joel told them to leave and that I had to put her to bed. While I was laying down with her she stayed calm, but it took about 30 minutes for her to fall asleep and it was almost 11:00.

Doesn't she look like such a big girl in these pictures, I am remembering back to when I first made these pillows and she used them to pull up on and now she is big enough to sit on them like a chair, it is amazing. Every time we turn around she is taking something off of the table that we didn;t think she could reach so she is getting taller by the minute. She isn't really using her sippy cup well, but she is getting more practice with it daily, we fill it with juice and she likes to shake it and walk around with it she takes a couple of sips here and there, but she isn;t really drinking a lot. But its a start and I am Happy with the progress.

Sally was thrilled with Holly's walking today. She says she is very controlled and she was impressed with her turning and piviting and even her falling is slow and controlled. She is navigating obsticles like pillows or toys on the floor, and taking mini steps up or down over door stops or on and off the carpet. She is even squating down picking up a toy and then walking while holding onto it. She has the skills to stand on her own rather then pull up but hasn't figured that out yet, so it is one of the things we worked on today with Sally. She showed her a few times how to do it. Our session went pretty well.

On Monday we missed our playdate at Chloe's because Holly refused to sleep in the morning, and went down at 2:30, since the playdate starts at 3:00 and she slept till 5:00 we didn't go. I have een pretty busy all week and since falling alseep hasn't been easy I haven't been napping with Holly when she naps, as a result of that I have been pretty tired myself. I guess the apple doesn;t fall far fromt he tree, with a mommy who has sleeping issues, of course she will too. It is sorta scary the things that you see in your kids that simply can't be learned, and present themselves at such a young age.

Yesterday we went to the Eye Doctor, he was wonderful.. he was a pediatric opthamologist and said that holly's eyes were healthy. There were two conditions that are common for kids with Fragile X that dr. hagerman wanted us to check up on, and she was fine, but he said we should come back in a year for another visit, to do a yearly check-up until about 4. At that age, she should be able to do a regular vision test and if her eyes are still healthy then she gets turned over to the pediatrician for checkups during well visits, until she has issues with the vision tests. Which we of course hope won't happen.

We found ourselves rushing out of the house becasue again she went down for her nap late and I wanted to give her every possible moment of sleep before waking her to transfer into the car, and the ride there was about 30 minutes, afterwards she got very cranky and did not want to be in the car seat so we headed over to Sadie Dey's and I let her play for the rest of the afternoon. She didn't go down for another nap till almost 7:00 and slept till 8:00 so of course she was up till midnight that ngiht too... man I should stop whining about sleep issues, can you see this is a theme.. I should call this the gripe and moan post.

I have just had a lot to do, I had a WASC conference call this week, today in fact, which went swimmingly, but I had to rush to review and analyze three reports over the weekend, and I was the lead reader so I was in charge of the call, which was a little stressful of course until the call started. But also I am dealing with an issue related to the title company, apparently someone things there is a judgement against my house from the previous owener that the title insurance didn;t catch, of course this is from 2004 when I bough the house, and the original Judgement was 2000. So it is a pain in my butt that I have to dig out my title insurance for my storage files of 5 years ago, and then find the office and go down there and deal with this, because of bad debt that the previous owner had, I mean why doesn;t the lawyer go chase him down and find him rather then relying on me a responcible person to clean up his mess. Well tomorrow we are having a playdate over here, so I will try and remember to take a bunch of pictures and have a happy post posted soon!

Life is good, I am just in a whiney mood. We are both feeling worn out, but we are hanging in there.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

Holly's birthday party was amazing, and I will post about it as soon as I have a spare minute.

I hate Day light savings time it has totally screwed up our schedule. Holly has been going to sleep at 11:15 (right when she should if the clocks hadn't changed) and last night it was midnight. She isn't waking up early enough to get her naps and her lack of sleep has made her very cranky.

The poor baby has a horrible diaper rash that I think turned into a yeast infection, but I got Destin today and it seems better, but is still slightly raised. We were using Boudreaux but everyone told me it wasn't as good as Destin.. Destin is 40% zinc oxide versus 16% in Boudreaux.

I miss my mom, she went back to Florida already and her trip was too short. I was stressed all last week planning and preparing for the party, so I was cranky, now that I am more relaxed and its all over, she had to go.

Monday we had our positive parenting workshop and they talked about all the age appropriate behaviors kids do that adults don;t like, like throwing toys and blocks, biting, ripping pages from books. And how they must do these things to learn about the world around them.

At studio grow Holly was dumping blocks out of a bin and I didn't respond, and she kept gleefully throwing them out. Then she put on back in by accident and I clapped and applauded her. She was so excited, that she put several more back in the bin, to get my cheery response.

Grandparents are great, but I think Grand babies wear them out... They aren't used to hours and hours of doing what Baby wants and following them around.. but that's why they were parents 30 years ago, and grandparents now.

Holly likes all the extra attention but I think by the end of the day she is worn out and just misses momma.

Grannies are wonderful for taking Holly on walks around the park, she loves walks.

Holly has been waking up in the middle of the night, one night it took 2 hours to get her back to sleep, after her bottle she laid in bed with me, and just stared at the ceiling, for 90 minutes, I rubbed her back and head and leg and face, if I stopped she got upset, but as long as I gently rubbed her she laid quietly.

She is either getting her molars, unhappy about her diaper rash, going through a growth spurt, processing from her over whelming days, or all of the above.

Mom and dad get to go to the movies tonight, this is very exciting.

Mom feels like she is very behind on posting, and never got around to writing about our great Wine and Cheese Play date, or Chloe's last week.

Mom needs to find time to write all about Holly's birthday Party before it is too late. She promises herself she will do it tonight, once Holly is in bed.

Therapy was a wash today because Holly was so tired, she didn't get up at 8:00, so she wouldn't go down for her nap, then by the time therapy was over she was over tired and wouldn't sleep. She finally fell asleep at 4:50.. after being up since 9:00 AM, and in the first 45 minutes of her nap, she woke 3 times crying and needed to be soother back to sleep. At 2:00 she fell asleep for 10minutes then woke up screaming with night terrors during the day, but Mom woke her up and let her watch baby Einstein till she was calm, then tried the swing, but even after 45 minutes she still wasn't asleep, and then got grumpy and wanted to play some more.

Holly is a baby on the verge.... words and steps are days away, I can feel it. She so wants to talk and walk, she just isn't quite there yet, but she is working at it.

Precious Sleep

Precious Sleep
Originally uploaded by vczdavis
Holly is refusing to go to sleep. Yesterday was Joel’s day with her and she slept in late, waking up around 10:00 she normally would be ready to go down for a nap about 2.5 hours later, so at 12:30 bottle in hand she came and laid down with me. She was so riled up, and she drank her bottle but then as soon as she finished she was trying to flop herself up and turn and sit and stand and she wanted to play. So Joel took her back and they played for a while. I tried to settle her down some more and we watched Baby Einstein, but it took her swing and over an hour for her to settle and fall asleep around 3:30. She only slept for 90 minutes and woke up around 5:00. So I figured she would be ready for bed around 10:00. We played, had dinner, watched the Oscars, and then began to help her settle down.

By 10:00 we laid down with a bottle and I attempted to get her to fall asleep, but again as soon as she finished it she was up and trying to crawl and climb around and refused to settle. We watched the Oscars a little more and then tried to put her in the crib. She climbed around for a while in there but after twenty minutes got upset and wanted to play. By 11:30 we tried another bottle and bed again, it almost worked but then she started to try and get up. I tried to bear hug her and keep her on her back but she got mad and had a fit and Joel was tired and really didn’t want to hear her cry. So I tried walking around with her and that didn’t work and then the crib again. Finally by 12:30 we were watching Baby Einstein and 2 ½ episodes later around 1:45 she fell asleep.

She was up this morning by 9:30 so she didn’t get much rest, but actually went down for a nap by 11:40. Katie arrived and we ended up doing paperwork and talking about her sleep issues and how she is fighting sleep. I read online that babies don’t fight sleep that it is separation anxiety but I am in bed with her so that can’t be it. I was tell Katie how she sometimes even hits and pinches herself to stay awake and will kick off the covers and anything soothing to fight the sleep. After a long discussion we think it may be related to Sensory Seeking behavior, and her not being able to self regulate. She can’t wind herself down and she is seeking sensory input to stay keyed up. At some point she gets close enough to sleep that all sensory input begins to irritate her and prevent sleep, so it is recognizing where she is on that line and knowing which thing she needs. But a routine and more time that normal to let her wind down before bedtime or a nap will be needed. We are breaking out excel to make a schedule and routine and see if we can at least try and follow it.

Tonight was a little better; I started to try and get her to wind down at 9:00 and then at 10:00 tried to put her to sleep. It wasn’t working; she drank her bottle and then wanted to play. So after reading some research on the internet Joel was more confident to let her cry more than 30 seconds and also be in her crib on her own. So we put her in the crib at 10:45 and said goodnight. She played for about 15 minutes walking around, turning on and off her blue toy, but eventually she started to call for us. I let Joel go in right away the first time, he didn’t pick her up just told her we were right here and then left but a few minutes later she was crying again. So this time I went it, I laid her down rubbed her back and put on her Sun Music toy and left, but then the third time she was really agitated, Joel actually waited 2-3 minutes before going in, but she wasn’t “upset” she was having a fit, I can tell the difference in her cries, after about 2 minutes it went from mad to upset so I sent him in. The 4th time I went it, it didn’t even sooth her because at this point she was begging me to pick her up pulling on my shirt and reaching up to me, so eventually I did.

Back to Baby Einstein, and another 30 minutes and it didn’t even seem to be working, she crawled off my lap and onto the floor and tried to go and play, so I picked her up and started another episode and she was almost asleep, but fighting it, so we gave her another bottle and she fell asleep. I was holding her and rocking her for the allotted 10 minutes (which is how long it takes for her to go into deep sleep and not wake up if I put her down) it was about 11:45 now, so not bad. But then she starts to scream, I hadn’t done anything and next thing I realized she was in my arms having a night terror. So it was 12:45 before she got down to sleep again, and she is so pitiful hiccupping now in her sleep I can hear her in the other room, and she vomited twice on me from the crying and I had to change her and the changing table and my closes both times and her blanket got all pukey, and well. I just don’t understand. Today she had a 2 hour nap in the morning and another 75 minute or so nap in the afternoon. She had only been awake for 5 hours, so she shouldn’t have been that over tired, and well she had only fallen asleep, in my arms 8 minutes earlier.

But it is what it is. She is asleep now and hopefully with the schedule and routine it will get better. While Katie was here this afternoon we researched Fragile X and sleep disorders and fighting sleep is actually quite common in Fragile X, but then again, here is her Momma up at 1:00 AM fighting sleep to blog, so I guess the apple doesn’t fall far.

Sorry about the bad picture, I am tired and Lazy and don't want to spend the time to find good ones at the moment. Plus - Dare I use a flash and risk waking her - I think not.

Hollyland

Today was a low key day. We had some bananas for breakfast and Holly explored her new play area. I am not sure that she really acknowledged that the tree was gone but she was happy to have the extra space and dug right into her toys.

She quickly went to and found the nearest thing that could get her into trouble. We forgot to put up the special thing that keeps the blind strings short, so after finding the string, which I put up she then discovered the blinds themselves. I guess the good thing about her getting herself into trouble is the good physical therapy it provides I mean seriously look at that neck extension, no its not 90 degrees, but it is certainly at least 45.

Holly did not want to take her nap and didn’t fall asleep until almost 11:45 so I had to wake her at 12:30 when Katie arrived. It took her a bit to warm up to her being here and she was done earlier then usual. We played with the big bouncy ball and crawled through the tub. Katie decided to let us keep the tube here for a couple of weeks since Holly is the only patient she is using it on. Joel and I have come up with some fun ideas that I am sure you will read about in the days to follow.

After therapy we had lunch #1 which consisted of Banana and Squash, later we had some snacks. I always forget to give her snacks to chew on because I am afraid of the gagging so ideally I need to do it between food and bottles. During therapy I was eating lunch, some left over Pizza and she was very interested in my food so I gave her some of the crust to chew on. Over protective Daddy protested, but Katie backed me up and thought it was a great idea. This reminded me I should try with actual baby snacks today.

So we had some Puffs, a Wagon Wheel, a Teething Biscuit, Some mini Crackers, a Zwieback toast, and these new Strawberry Yogurt Puffs that melt in your mouth. She did pretty good munching on them, as you can see here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4HErh3LehY

Once she was done I gave her some Apple Vanilla and then we played some more. She was getting very fussy and grumpy and fell asleep around 5:45 for her second nap. I decided to let her sleep since her morning nap was cut short and since she had Night Terrors a few days ago. She ended up sleeping until 8:15 and woke up so precious like a little gopher.

Daddy was excited to get a little bit of Holly time. She woke just as we sat down to eat dinner, so Joel played with her and let me eat first. She was being clingy though and wanted Mommy. She was happy if I was sitting on the floor with her and would crawl over and stand up next to me if I was on the couch.

She did get to bed a little late, but it wasn’t terrible. We tried putting her down twice, and I even made her an 8th bottle, but she didn’t want it. In the end I gave her a teething rind which soothed her and she fell asleep. I wonder if it is a sensory thing, as the teething ring is freezing cold, I mean it is basically ice and she likes to put it on her face and especially on her ear, it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. So those of you with kids who have SPD any input please comment.

The other thing I am curious about is the biting. So I realize that FX Kids tend to like to chew on things, thus the chewlery and damaged collars. But Holly does a few additional things. 1st she grinds her teeth, which drives me crazy, but isn’t the most worrisome. 2nd she likes to chew on wood, but also metal. She loves to chew on Metal, like the bottom of my Sigg Bottle, is it the coolness? The sound it makes when she crapes her teeth on it? And 3rd she likes to pull on her teeth, like she will put a string in her mouth that goes behind her four bottom teeth then pull it out on either side. Or if she is chewing on like a baby food lib, she will put the lip behind her teeth then pull it out. She also has some toys she does this with.

Is this Dangerous? Will she Damage her teeth? Have your kids done things like this? Is she trying to get more sensory input? I was talking to Katie about this today and she said that swinging happens to provide the same input at biting, so we put her down on a quilt and each held two sides and swung her side to side. The first time she look terrified and I was ready to give up, but we tried slower one more time and the second time she liked it, so we did it two more times. Weather it helped or not, who knows. Thoughts?

Mondays are always blah.. I get used to having Joel’s help on the weekend and then Monday hits me and it is a long long day. Joel didn’t come home for lunch today, he was really busy at work.. This morning I had a Bagel for breakfast, well ½ and then a Banana but I still felt queezy so I didn’t finish the second half. Then since Joel didn’t come home I decided to skip lunch.. But 5:00 I was starving and felt well enough to eat, but didn’t want to ruin my dinner so I had a granola bar, but I was so looking forward to pork chops and rice-a-roni when Joel got home.

Katie stayed for a while, from 12:30 till 2:30ish We played with her big exercise ball, Holly sat on top and laid on it and bounced on it and she had fun. Then when she had enough we played with the tunnel. Holly didn’t so much crawl back and forth then crawl half way through sit and laugh and then go back the way she came. We put the blanket in so it would be difficult for her to get from one side to the other, but then in the end she wanted to crawl back to Katie on the outside which was easier. Then we sat on the Bolster a bit, but she got hungry and then wet and then overall was cranky we did a little more but then it was almost 2:00 and she was hungry and I had been talking to Katie about her gag reflex when eating more cracker like foods so we decided to feed her.

Katie thought she did a really good job. I gave her some Sweet Potatoes Puffs and some Cheese Puffs and Some new Veggie Crackers that Joel just got. She would put them in her mouth and suck and then after a while spit them out and then put them back in again. She didn’t really do a lot of swallowing which is when she usually gags. She didn’t gag while Katie was here and she wasn’t being very cooperative with the eating of her baby food.

Today Holly only had 2 short 45 minute naps and was pretty cranky. But she was fun too. We read stories, played with Puzzles, practiced walking and crawling, Holly played for a while in her room and I had a chance to put away some of her cloths.

When Joel got home at 7:00 we set up the computer to Skype with my sister while I was feeding Holly. Unfortunately Skype wasn’t working on both ends, so she could see and hear us but we could not see or hear her, but she was on g-talk also so we could read her comments and she just liked watching us and “being there” Holly was such a good eater, she finished some Banana-Squash and then she eat an entire container of Apple - Sweet Potatoes.

After dinner Joel and I watched 24, we were very excited about the new season. Holly was so sleepy even when she was playing, or sitting on our lap, or crawling around, she was whining. She finally went to sleep around 10:30. The first time we laid her down was a no go, then she laid in my lap for about 20 minutes with a cool teether and got all happy and sleepy and then we put her down again and she fell asleep.

The new thing Holly is doing at night is sleep crawling and sitting. Yes, sleep sitting and crawling. Tonight we put her to bed and twice she woke up, well not awake, her eyes were closed and she was still sleeping but she was sitting up. A few nights ago she was in a crawling position with her eyes closed and asleep. She would make a whimper and Joel went into her to check on her and he laid her back down and gave her the pacifier and she cuddled back into her blanket. But that night she did it I think twice also. She is definitely going to be a handful, and I have a feeling we won’t be going to a big girl bed for a long time. I worry that it is related to Night Terrors and Sleep Walking.

Well I am off to bed myself now. Bye!

Night Terrors

So I think Holly is suffering from Night Terrors. We think it has happened twice before, but much milder, one time when we were in Virginia. Joel’s mom thought she had fallen off the bed, as she woke in the middle of the night screaming, and we were comforting her, but it only lasted about 5 minutes.

Last night it happened twice and it was the most Horrible experience I think I have ever had. The first time was at 12:30 and I didn’t realize what was going on at the time, but Holly woke up screaming, first I thought she was hungry but she wouldn’t take the bottle, then I thought maybe her Diaper rash was hurting her, so I changed her. (She had a little rash but it was only for one day, I think because her costume is so warm – and it’s already gone today) But that didn’t help either, so then I thought perhaps she is teething, and I gave her two highlands teething tabs to put under her tongue, and tried to feed her an ounce of formula with Motrin, but that didn’t work, she didn’t want her pacifier, and she wanted t do nothing but scream.. The really scary part, is that when Holly gets like that, which is rare, she starts to almost hyperventilate, she doesn’t breath she is screaming so much and then she begins to gag and cough and choke and then vomits. I was able to keep her from vomiting, but she threatened twice..

I would rock her and shush her and sing to her and walk with her and for about 20 minutes nothing would help, and then almost as suddenly she was asleep again, this time with a case of the hiccups so it was like she was catching her breath and whimpering every few seconds as she calmed back into a dose. It was truly terrifying, and I blamed it on teething pain not knowing what else could be done.

So I went to the internet and looked up, My Baby wakes up screaming in the middle of the night and found this: http://www.babycenter.com/404_why-is-my-baby-suddenly-waking-up-hysterical-at-night_1292617.bc The description is almost exactly like Holly and when you read the community responses several of the parents say they have experienced similar things with 7 months old, which is how old Holly is now.

SO I thought it was over, I pumped, went to bed, then at 4:15 am she woke up screaming again, and even thought I had just read this information I could not leave her lying in the co sleeper I picked her up and rocked her in bed, then it was too much to take so I got up and walked around the house with her, this time armed with more knowledge I was more observant, she was staring off, not making eye contact, she didn’t seem to see me but looked right past me, she would calm for a moment but then start again for no reason and when I did try to talk to her it seemed to freak her out more and make it worse, she wasn’t engaged, this was not like getting her shots where she screams, and then looks at me for comfort or with anger and for soothing, she didn’t even know I was there and nothing I did made a bit of difference. Joel took her for a bit and I did some more research to keep myself from freaking out and found this: http://www.babycenter.com/0_night-terrors_142.bc

What are night terrors?

Night terrors occur in at least 5 percent of young children, and can start as early as 9 months. These mysterious disturbances happen during deep, non-dreaming sleep. A child in this state will cry, whimper, flail, and even bolt out of bed. Though his eyes may be wide open, he's not awake and isn't aware of your presence. Once the night terror (which can last anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour or more) is over, your child will return to a sound sleep and have no memory of the incident in the morning.

How are night terrors different from nightmares?

Nightmares happen during rapid eye movement (REM) or dream sleep. A child who's had a nightmare is likely to have a fairly clear idea of what scared him, though he probably won't be able to articulate his fright until he's about 2. He may also be afraid to fall back asleep, and in the morning, he'll probably remember that he had a bad dream.

What should I do when my toddler has a night terror?

Of course, your first instinct will be to comfort him, but your efforts will most likely be futile (remember, he's not really awake and he's not aware of your presence). You just have to wait it out and make sure he doesn't hurt himself. Don't speak to him or try to soothe him, and don't try to shake or startle him awake or physically restrain him — all of which could lead to more frantic behavior. In 15 to 20 minutes, your child should calm down, curl up, and fall into a deep sleep again.

Is there anything I can do to prevent night terrors?
There are several steps you can take to reduce the chances that your toddler will have night terrors. First, make sure that he's getting enough sleep, since children who go to bed overtired are more likely to experience these sleep disturbances. To avoid fatigue, extend your toddler's nap time, let him sleep a little later in the morning, or put him to bed earlier at night. And be sure to schedule plenty of time for calming bedtime rituals, such as a bath, a song, a book, and lots of cuddling.Since night terrors usually occur during the first part of the night, you could also try gently rousing your toddler after he's been asleep for an hour or two — about 15 minutes before the typical episode would start. This should alter his sleep pattern enough to head off the night terror at the pass.

After a few minutes I took Holly back again and with vigorous rocking and shushing eventually she went back into a deeper sleep, again with hiccups and a whimper, it was horrifying, and pitiful, and probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had, I felt so helpless, and just didn’t know what to do., But then she was asleep again after about 20 minutes and it was over, for her anyways. I was restless the rest of the night with a black pit in my stomach full of dread and worry. She of course woke up at 10:30 the next morning happy, playful and rested as if the night before, was simply my nightmare. So today, I am making sure she is getting plenty of rest and talking all her naps as long as possible and going to bed at a decent time, so hopefully this can be prevented, but I don’t know what I will do if it happens again, you simply can’t understand unless of course you have seen your child screaming in agony at the top of their lungs, and being powerless to try and help them. They say you can’t wake them from their sleep it makes it worse, and to not engage them, but doing nothing would be awful. Have any of you experienced Night Terrors before, I would love to hear how you coped with it, and any advice you may have, to let me know this is indeed what is going on and there isn’t something worse happening with her.
