Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 3D

Took Holly to her first full length 3D movie last week, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  She was highly amused by the movie itself and I thought all the Foodimals were super creative and it was very artistic.  There was also a good story.  She was not overly impressed with the 3D, unlike the 10 minute show we saw at Disney World last year where she was literally reaching out in front of her to grab things, this 3D was more depth then outward motion and not super impressive.  That said, she had fun wearing the glasses and the 3D didn't bother her.  Though several times I noticed her lifting up the glasses and laying with them, and the screen is blurry when you do that.  She asked to see Frozen in 3D which I don't think I will do, but I would not be adverse to taking her to a 3D movie again, but maybe one she cares less about, like this one.  So if her eyes do start to bother her she and she misses bits here or there she won't mind.

I have taken her to the movies several times now, but the last few have been with a friend, it was super nice having a Mommy and Me date to the movies, I can;t wait until she is a little older and wants to see some of the movies I want to see too, not that I didn't enjoy this one.  The other night I went to Thor, and she said Mommy he is one of the Avengers, is it a kids movie?  I showed her the preview and she said, I don;t like that, have fun with the other mommies.  She isn't really into live action yet, but that's OK, I don;t mind keeping her my baby a little longer either :-)

Hanging with Mira

It seems like nowadays we almost never get enough play time with our friends and have to squeeze in every once we can.  Gone are the leisurly days of summer when our schedules were not full of school and other school related activities.  Here are two such fun playdates with Mira.  One day after Gymnastics just to hang out and play for a little longer we headed across the way to the Home Depot Garden Center where the girls smelled and looked at every flower they could find and explored.

The next day I took Mira to see the Smurfs with Holly.  They had a super fun time.  After the movie we had a quick lunch at Fudruckers, Mostly because Mommy needed a turkey Burger, and then had some time playing in the sunshine of the grassy courtyard followed by some reading at the bookstore.  its a super fun way to spend a lazy afternoon, i wish we had time to do it more often,.

Monsters University

Last minute plan change found Holly and I at Bay Street with Mai and Mira
It was kids eat free Tuesday at Pasta Pommodoro and boy did those girls enjoy there lunch
After lunch we headed over to AMC to see Monsters University
The girls were super excited to be going to the movies
And feeling super independent and grown up
I was worried that the movie might be too grown up for her, I didn't know what to expect
Today we didn't even have to get popcorn because they had such a full belly from yummy lunch
I was so proud of the girls for being so well behaved, since the movie was just released we were worried it would be busy so we were a little early
First there were ads then there were several previews and finally the new Pixar  short, the Blue Umbrella
Holly was anxious for the movie to start, but the Blue Umbrella was super cute and sweet
The movie was really good.  Way better then I expected, the beginning when Mike was a little kid was super adorable
I love how inspirational the movie was, Mike was so determined
The kids liked it a lot, Holly was a little scared a few times but not very much
By the end they were very wiggly and happy to get a chance to run around after the movie
Here they are turning the photo booth into an office where they sell tickets
One of the previews we saw was for Turbo, a snail with the need for speed
The girls each got a chance to ride on his back
Then they turned this video game into a ticket booth, they were so bossy and cute
Afterwards we headed to the bookstore which was super fun.  Holly got the Mike and Sully bobble heads to add to our collection
It was getting late but our rainy day turned into a sunny breeze and so we said ten more minutes to play outside
Here they are playing with the characters
And then Holly gave Mira a present, a matching robot dress.  I made it for them last week
The fabric is robots and the solar system, right up Mira's alley picked out months ago for her.  We had a wonderful afternoon!
