Music in Albany

Here we are at Music class in the Albany Library. Its a fun little program that is free to the community and the kids have a blast. We sing songs and play with shakers and tambourines. The girls get easily distracted by strollers and trikes and cars in the back of the room. But often we do get them to participate and sing along. We know a few of the other mom's and kids who attend from various other groups. So it is always nice to see a familiar face. The teacher often plays guitar for several songs which we enjoy. The girls like to dance and climb and run and play. Here is Nathans and his mom, enjoying a tune. And Sara making friends wherever she goes. Very curious and paying attention. Here is Chloe, she hasn't joined us for a while because she is taking a class at MCPC during this time for 9 weeks.Sometimes afterwards we go shopping or to the park.We like to go to the pet store, or sometimes Starbucks or Trader Joe's.next week the Point Richmond Farmer's market is starting up again. We had a lot of fun there last year, so we are looking forward to going again. One vendor sells the very best garlic Cheese Spread, and another has amazing Sugar Free Pies. The Strawberries are wonderful. it will be neat to see how the experience changes now that Holly is so much older.Sometimes after music class we stay in the room and play and eat snacks and chat while the girls run around. They get into trouble though, climbing on chairs, climbing into cabinets. One day they even unraveled several balls of yarn stored in there for a yarn class the community center hosts. But I suppose that is what two year olds do with all of there time.Sometimes we go into the children;s area of the library, they play with some of the toys or color. There are a few computers that they like to pretend to be typing on and use. There is one computer that actually has kids games on it, but inevitably one of the older kids is already on it.But the girls don;t mind they like to watch whats on the screen, and really the three of them are aggressive enough,More then once they have pushed there way into the front of the group to get the best seats on the house.Even taking a turn at the mouse, not that they really knew how to control it once they got a hold of it.Sometimes they look at and read books, but more often then not they like to pull entire shelves onto the floor.Luckily the library is very patient with us, and cleaning up always takes a long time, because at that point they want to look at each book.Sara attends many library events, story time, music, at various local libraries, but always in the morning. We are very grateful to have this program in the afternoon so we can attend and at 4:30 it is pretty easy most weeks to get a nap in beforehand.Whats great too, is it gets us out of the house, its only 30 minutes and then we are motivated to go and do something else afterwards.

What fun. I recognize Sarah's bear in one of the photos. Singing as a prelude to shopping! Yippee.
