Daily Video: Fairyland @ Halloween

We had a wonderful time hanging out at Fairyland the weekend before Halloween.  We went with Mira in the late afternoon and they were having holiday activities.  The first stop was a magic Show.  Holly actually loved it.  She sat in the front row and was totally engaged.  It was a clown and she laughed so hard she could hardly breath.  it was a delight to watch.  They decorated for Halloween as well.  Turning Alice in Wonderland into a Spooky Garden and the Old West into Monster Houses.  There was trick or treating tables all around the park and the girls collected treats.  Holly wore a dress I made for her with spooky spiders from fabric granny sent us.  At the end the girls had fun sliding down Jack and Jill's Hill.  Here is a fun Video of them.

Crashing Tower

It was so much fun to crash down the tower, more fun then building it.  They did it over and over.  Holly decided it was Rapunzel's tower and the yellow blocks were her hair.

Library Time

We went to the library in Alameda the other day with Mira. It was fun, especially afterwards when we walked around downtown and shopped. We went to Lauren's Closet and The Ark toy store.  It was fun.  We ended up staying longer then expected though and hit a ton of traffic on the way home.

Swim Lesson with Teacher Jeremy

This is Holly and Hassan at there new swim lesson.  There regular teacher is Molly but she isn't our favorite  and we are considering other options.  She talks to the kids too much instead of showing them how to do stuff and most of it goes over there heads.  They don't laugh and look like they are having fun either.  On this day we had a special treat and Jeremy was our teacher.  The kids laughed the entire time.  We want Jeremy for our teacher but there is no room in his schedule for any new lessons.  We will see what happens next week.

Daddy Dress Project Continues - Chloe

Here are Holly and Chloe posing in there Shirt Dresses.  Holly's has been washed and I noticed one bad thing is that these dresses get super wrinkly.  I added some applique to Holly's from my previous posting but i still think its lacking something, maybe a belt?  In the first two pictures Chloe is trying on her dress.  It was a little too plain so we added some pink ribbon around the sleeves and then the skirt.

In the end pictures Holly is modeling and trying on Chloe's dress.  I cut it and hemmed it up shorter then Holly's and also added a flower to hers too.  I am also thinking it needs some type of belt as well.  I am still working on it.  So far I love the one I made for Mimi the best, it has a dragon printed on the front.  I don't have a picture, Tita Mai!! Send one :-) So I can post it too.

Daddy Dress - Work in Progress

So this is the start of the Daddy Dress I made for Holly.  She picked it out, it's pink of course.  I added the cuffs to the sleeves which I think it really cute.  It was missing something though so I added some cute appliques you will see those in tomorrow's post.

Tap dance girls

Here is Mira and Holly at there new Dance Class.  It is Tap/Ballet and they love it.  Mommies are not allowed in the room so I don;t have very many pictures.  These are taken before class starts, the girls are making there naughty girl poses.

Rapunzel hair?

I kinda like it.  not that I would ever give her bangs of cut her hair short, but she does look kind of adorable with the red bob.  She picked this up and told me it was Rapunzel hair.  I looked at her with confusion and she says, you know mommy when Flynn cuts it and she gets married.  True!  It does look like Rapunzel's short hair.  Very astute.

Newest Sewing Project - Asymetrical Tie-Dye Dress

Maybe this dress needs a belt --So I actually drew the design for this dress ala "Project Runway" style.  I actually sketched it after an episode that inspired me.  Melissa one of my favorite designers and in the final four wore a black dress one day where the skirt on the far side was long and the front was short, in a diagonal asymmetrical line.  Going in the opposite direction it is one sleeved.  I choose a tie dye pattern because I liked the colors and because you see the inside of the fabric of the skirt through the legs because the back is longer and the tie-dye looks really pretty on both sides.  I am not sure yet how to close the dress.  If I sew the sleeve Holly can still technically step into the dress and pull it up over her hips but it is too tight to bring down over her shoulders.  The fabric isn't stretchy at all.  Another tricky thing is that the skirt is fitted past the knee so it is a little tricky for her to walk in it.  I didn't want it to be too short but I didn't want it to restrict her movement either.  If I take it up as the waist to add shape to it, it might be too short.  How fun she added a belt and I think it looked kind of nice so I think I might sew in a permanent one.  I also think maybe in needs the other right sided strap so maybe I will add that in a solid color too.  I'm thinking of maybe just cutting it right down the back and adding buttons or a zipper but that is kind of advanced I'm not sure if I know how to do that.  These pictures aren't the greatest because of the noisy background but let me know what you think.  I have another design in the making coming up soon.

Post Graduation Get Together

After the Graduation Ceremony and performances everyone went back to there individual classrooms for pot luck parties and everyone got a certificate and little gifts.  Samantha is off to Kindergarten, Nate, Aidan, and Holly were moving to Teacher Gladys, Gio to Teacher Karen.  It was hard to say goodbye to all of our friends, but Holly is making new friends now.  One of the little gifts was a blow up beach ball balloon.  Of course Holly wanted to go out side right away and play with it.  She had fun on the bridge and in the playground and then it was time to eat.  The kids had pizza and I brought in yummy watermelon Sorbet.  it was a nice celebration and a nice way to say goodbye to her old class.
